Alimentary moves against the waste of foods

Beside Alimentary, more than 130 companies have joined to the campaign ‘The feeding does not have waste', supported by the associations that represent them, between which stand out the Spanish Association of Distributors, Autoservicios and Supermarkets (Asedas), the Spanish Association of Chains of Supermarkets (Aces), the Association of Big Companies of distribution (Anged), the Spanish Federation of Hospitality industry and catering (FEHR), the Forum InterAlimentario, Cooperative Agroalimentarias of Spain and the Association Five to the Day. The agreement has the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Feeding and Environingingment, diverse Public Administrations and the Spanish Federation of Banks of Foods (FESBAL). With this campaign pursues reduce the alimentary waste by means of the prevention and the impulse of practices of efficiency between his companies collaborators. “Alimentary supports a so necessary initiative in quality of spokesman of the sector that's that of meeting between the main operators of the chain agroalimentaria”, affirms J. Antonio Valls, director of the living room.
In fact, so as to avoid the destruction of the excedente alimentary, keep the chain of alimentary solidarity ensuring redistribution juster and promote a more sustainable development and efficient, the living room collaborates from does several editions with the Fundació Banc dels Aliments, that collected 20 tonnes of products excedentes between the display units of Alimentary 2012. The Spanish homes throw annually 2,9 million tonnes of foods to the rubbish, a similar quantity to the one of the rest of countries industrialised, according to data of Aecoc. The per capita waste between the consumers is from among 95 and 115 annual kilos in Europe and North America, whereas in Africa subsahariana, meridional Asia and the Sudeste Asian waste only between 6 and 11 kilos per person and year.
