The production of ready concrete, in historical minima
The economic crisis has in the industry of the ready concrete to another of his big victims. The strong descent experienced in the public bidding in matter of infrastructures added to the difficult moment that lives in Spain the sector of the edificación, residential and no residential (with volumes of new construction that hardly arrive to 10% of the ones of does 5-6 years), is causing that the production of concrete, fundamental material for all these projects, find in levels very low.
Specifically, the first quarter of 2012, according to the data of Anefhop, finalised with a production of 5.961.300 m3 of ready concrete in front of the 6.423.300 m3 with that closed the four quarter of 2011. These 5,9 million m3 suppose a fall interanual with regard to the same period of the previous year of 29,1% (the first quarter of 2011 culminated with a fall interanual very inferior with regard to the three first months of 2010, of 10,3%).
If it expands the temporary field of analysis appreciates still better the gravity of the situation that crosses this industry. In the first quarter of 2007 the production of ready concrete in all Spain rondaba the 25 million m3, that is to say, in hardly five years, this production has seen reduced to something less than a fourth part.
By Autonomous Communities, the greater descent experienced during the three first months of 2012 has lived it Castile-La Mancha with a fall of 55,4%, followed of the Valencian Community (-47,3%), Navarra (-44,0%), Andalucia (-43,8%) and Asturias (-41,8%). In the contrary side of the scales find to Galicia, where the production of ready concrete lived an increase interanual from January and until March of 2012 of 4,1%, whereas in Canaries this growth was of 2,6%.
By volume, the province of Barcelona led the production of material in the beginning of year, with 682.200 m3 of concrete, followed of Madrid (557.800 m3) and, more than far, by Vizcaya (231.500 m3).
Urgent measures
To brake this negative tendency that comes dragging from does more than five years, and that has also his reflection in a strong fall of the number of people employed by this sector, is fundamental that from the Administration bet by the construction of new infrastructures, indispensable for the economic development of any country.
Besides, from the sector follows seeing in the use of the concrete for the construction of new roads a road to be able to win presence in the market, remembering for this the advantages that offers this material in front of the traditional (efficiency, durability and saving of fuel, among others).
