The President of the VSF describes the situation of the sector as well as actions against the abuse of alcohol, before the Senate

The President of the Spanish wine Federation, Félix Solís Yáñez, intervened on Tuesday in the Senate, in the Joint Commission seeking solutions to the problem of alcohol, to expose the reality of the wine sector and the activities carried out by the Organization to prevent and combat the problem caused by the abusive consumption of alcohol in society, something to which committed the Organization itself and its affiliates.
After a detailed description of the wine sector in Spain, in terms of economy, employment, environment and rural development, which demonstrate the high fragmentation of the same at all levels, Félix Solís has explained to the senators, the activities that the VSF carried out within the framework of the program "Wine in Moderation', for the dissemination of the message of moderation in the consumption of wine and the education of the consumer. This program is part of the commitment of the European wine sector, in the framework of the strategy of the EU alcohol and health, to make an effective and active contribution to the society to the problems caused by alcoholbased on Science, information, education in the broad sense, and sector self-regulation. In Spain, the program "Wine in Moderation' implements it the VSF and their businesses, in collaboration with the Foundation for the investigation of the wine (FIVIN), and in the framework of which activities are carried out from the year 2008.
The wine sector does not give back to these problems of inappropriate consumption, especially among the groups more sensitive to the problem. Thus, carried out numerous educational and training activities for the dissemination of correct consumption patterns, linked to the more moderate, from the conviction that the model of the wine can be part of the solution to alleviate the problems arising from the abuse of alcohol.
