Water supply was carried out so far from the former ETAP of La Losilla, located on the highway with the municipal district of Isso, dealing with the world river water through a channel of transportation opened from Liétor Hellín. In addition, the storage capacity of existing municipal deposits so far was insufficient in order to provide a service with adequate assurances of supply, which had the risk of cuts from water to the population, precisely at times of maximum daily consumption.
The ETAP includes a complete laboratory of control analytical, with storage of samples and reagents. In addition, it is equipped with all the equipment adapted to the new rules concerning control analysis. There is a new deposit of water treated 1,000 cubic metres capacity-building, in which pumping groups needed to raise the water to the main municipal deposits of Hellín and its hamlets have been installed within the plantwhich can be regulated and controlled from the own ETAP through a system of remote control.
Two new drinking water storage tanks built in the "Cross of the lobster" spot have 5,000 cubic metres capacity, and are formed by walls of concrete, of rectangular shape. In addition, there have been 4,400 metres of new supply pipes.
The immediate benefits of this project, whose total investment amounts to 9.4 million euros (85 per cent financed by acuaSegura with the Cohesion Fund of the European Union and the remaining 15% contributed by the City Council of Hellín) are improvement of the reliability and assurance of supplyas well as the quality of supply for the population of Hellín.
