Exhibition Village, real time demonstrations in SIL 2010

The international exhibition logistics and maintenance (SIL) will be held from 25 to 28 May 2010 in the Gran Via-Fira de Barcelona Fairgrounds. This room is the meeting point of all the logistics activity in the South of Europe, the Mediterranean basin, particularly the countries of the Maghreb, Latin America and Southeast Asia. After eleven editions, the SIL has become the great fair event logistics and transport in Spain and the Mediterranean arc and the second from all over Europe.

The international exhibition logistics and maintenance presents a new exhibition space 'exhibition village', with the collaboration of Institut Cerdà and the Icil Foundation. It's an area in which several brands show live and direct their products, services, solutions and improvements through practical examples of picking, reduction of environmental pollution, sustainable development and improvement of green logistics.

The 'Exhibition Village' will feature three areas differentiated on the basis of the represented sector: technology and storage; renewable energy sources; and reverse logistics. Among the many benefits offered by this area of exposure to their exhibitors must emphasize the implementation of its products and services in real time, attention to brand enhanced by their presence in the only access to the Exhibition Village, and the direct visibility of their products and services at the best price.

In the area dedicated to technology and storage solutions and methodologies for various types of preparation of orders and storage, will see demonstrations of solutions man product and product to man that will solve real problems facing warehouses, and demonstrations of the operation and profitability of each product and how to find new opportunities to generate improvements.

In the space to the renewable energy will have practical demonstrations of the use of new renewable energy to the improvement in the logistics chain of a warehouse type. Be also conducted presentations of important applications in energy cost savings and improvement of the sustainable development aspects of green logistics.

Finally, the dedicated logistics reverse zone will show different solutions of logistics reverse to develop which are complemented by the requirements of recycling, re-use and revaluation on physical elements of containers for collection, sharing, etc. At the same time will develop presentations that will demonstrate how the use of technology can help to the improvement of environmental problems and the implementation of green logistics.

The SIL, in collaboration with maintenance & Storage magazine of logistics, the Icil Foundation and UPC - Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-, held a session devoted to new technologies, which took place last February in the Auditorium of El Consorci of the Franca area of Barcelona. At this meeting the general director of SIL 2010, white Sorigué, presented to attendees the ' SIL Tech Area', the new area of the international logistics show and created maintenance to maximize the participation of the companies that opt for new technologies in the field of logistics.

This meeting, with the assistance of some 50 professionals in the sector, also hosted a panel of reflection moderated by Carmina Lafuente, Director of maintenance & storage logistics magazine. In the same way, Alberto Sanfeliu, director of the Institute of Robotics and computer science Industrial of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), and Pere Roca, President of the Executive Committee of the Foundation ICIL and CEO of Districenter, were specialists who had this table of reflection.

Alberto Sanfeliu provided some practical examples of tests and trials, which have been carried out from the Institute of Robotics and computer engineering from the UPC, to show the contribution of robotics to the logistics sector. Similarly, Pere Roca highlighted the many applications of Robotics in the logistics and the many benefits it brings. However, rock also remarked that despite the many benefits that brings Robotics its rate application in enterprises is still low. Equally important was the participation of the attendees at this table of reflection as they could provide answers to their concerns and contribute their views on the basis of its experience.

White Sorigué, general director of SIL, closed the session by presenting the bet that the international exhibition logistics and maintenance carried out by the sector of new technologies, which this year will be represented in the ' SIL Tech Area'. It is a space which seeks to establish a clear relationship between business and knowledge with the creation of stands of design and a room for presentations to all major companies of traceability, RFID identification systems, mobility technologiesconsulting, engineering, consulting and telecommunications operators to submit their news, products, services and carry out practical demonstrations.

In addition to the ' SIL Tech Area', the SIL this year has new useful offers and all the facilities for companies of all sectors of the supply chain may be present at the annual meeting of the logistics in the Mediterranean and Spain.
