The Sil kicks off in Barcelona by bringing together the logistics sector
Mexico is a reference of logistics on a global scale. With thousands of kilometres of coastline in the two great oceans (Pacific and Atlantic), very close geographically of the two mouths of the Panama channel, its ports are the gateway of merchandise from Europe and Asia on his way to the North American market. For cultural reasons, but above all by its demographic and economic importance, Mexico is a country that Spanish companies have located in the sights of its expansion.
During the first half of 2006, the volume of investment of 2,247 national companies in Mexican territory was 6.942 million dollars (5.275 million euros).
The proof of the interest in the Mexican market lies in the fact that the most important companies of our country have already long installed there. It is the case, inter alia, of BBVA, Banco Santander, group Inditex, Telefónica or Sol Melià.
Relations between the Spanish and Mexican economies have a strong flavor of reciprocity. The large Aztec business conglomerates ago years who created subsidiaries in Spain. It is the case of CEMEX (Cementos Mexicanos), Grupo Modelo, IMSA, Vitro Cristalglass, DESC or group hotel guest.
The presence of Mexico as guest country in the 9th edition of the SIL will help to strengthen and develop trade links with the region. An economic powerhouse
Since the middle of the Decade of the 1980s the country has shifted by a neoliberal economic model with a strong desire in the opening made that has become the world leader in free trade agreements to other markets,having signed such agreements with 40 countries in 12 different treaties. Their main trade association is in the Treaty of free commerce of North America (NAFTA or NAFTA), integrated by United States, Canada and Mexico. Mexico also has free trade agreements with the European Union, Israel, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Japan and some countries of Latin America, and is an observer member and future associate member of Mercosur.
RFID and Anfac hours increasing the supply of knowledge
The first of these developments comes from the hand of the latest revolution in the logistic field: RFID (radio frequency identification) technology. During the past months, many industrial sectors have begun to implement systems of traceability and control of their products using this new technology, which is basically to add an electronic tag (tag) to the product, and have permanent and instant information on it.
The RFID seminar, called Seminars RFID-Med, will take place on Wednesday, June 6 and will seek to deepen the utilities that the new technology brings in supply chain management. In the programme which is being drafted, include as speakers, managers of companies who have already experimented with RFID in its manufacturing and distribution processes. In this way, congressmen attending the day may know first hand cases and real results of the use of RFID, and compare the return that can be obtained in investment for their implementation. To provide a practical perspective to this new seminar, Sil 2007 will organize a specific area of stands. In this area they will be companies offering RFID-related products and services.
On the other hand, the 1st day Anfac is structured around the heading "The logistics as a factor of competitiveness in the automotive sector". Co-organized with the National Association of manufacturers of cars and trucks, the seminar will be held on June 5, and intends to seek best practices in the management of goods in a sector so intensive in material flow as it is that of the automotive industry.
The provisional agenda of the Anfac day includes Conference on "the point of view of the company, what is the EU doing to improve the logistics in the transport of goods?" and a panel discussion on major infrastructure.

The fifth Mediterranean Forum will address the mobility of persons and goods
One of the most important events of this wide range of events Parallels is, by the level of their speakers, the fifth Mediterranean Forum of logistics and transport. This MEDA - Logistics & Transport Forum (international name) is presented under the motto Mediterranean near, and aims to delve into the importance of land transport in the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation with a view to the future zone of free trade and its impact on the sector of transport and logistics services. Its goal is to connect the Mediterranean to facilitate the mobility of people and goods meeting the challenges of globalisation and competition from other areas around the world.
Backed by 2,500 companies participating in its previous four editions, the 5th Mediterranean Forum is organised by Consorci El of Zona Franca and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, with the collaboration of the Association of Chambers of Commerce and industry of the Mediterranean (Ascame). Among the long list of speakers for this edition include Ministers of Spain, Algeria and Egypt, and the highest levels of management of organizations and companies based in Dubai, Lebanon, Jordan, Germany, United Kingdom or Belgium. All of them will seek to define strategies for economic development, increase trade, attract foreign investment and create multimodal platforms in the Mediterranean area. This requires coordinated policies at national and regional levels with the private sector.
