The first aircraft of Russia designed without using role thanks to the Siemens PLM Software's Teamcenter collaboration solution

Teamcenter provides the platform for product data management, including digital models, which has made possible the design and international manufacturing Sukhoi Superjet 100, which made the inaugural flight in May.
Siemens plm Software, Division of Siemens Industry Automation Division, announces that its software Teamcenter suite has enabled the production of the first aircraft internationally designed and manufactured without papers. The Superjet 100 (SSJ100) of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company made its first flight on May 19, 2008.
The end result is an aircraft that consumes 10 percent less fuel than its nearest competitor, it means a reduction of 10 per cent in the total cost of ownership and has lower price in its class. The SSJ100 also offers comfort for passengers without precedent in the category regional jet, with wider seats, wider aisles and large baggage compartments.
