The three areas mentioned (directive for machines, harmonized standards and prevention of occupational hazards, RD 1215 / 1997) are closely related, although it is sometimes difficult to fully understand the interaction between them.

• Personnel of enterprises using work equipment which is responsible for maintaining the adequacy to the RD 1215 / 1997 (especially in the case of groups of machines working jointly and severally).
• Staff of companies dedicated to the setting in conformity of machines.
• Personnel of companies that use machines that is responsible for their adaptation or modification for productive reasons or other needs of the company.
• Staff responsible for prevention of occupational hazards, whether a user enterprise or of an external prevention service.
• Personal maintenance of industrial machinery.
