The international exhibition of the logistics and maintenance reaches its 11th Edition

The Sil reached its eleventh edition preceded by the success and growth to date, thanks to the interaction of four lines of action that have been present since the first edition: be the meeting point of the logistics sector; international projection, which each year get to attract more exhibitors and international visitors; be a forum for logistics knowledge, with a broad agenda for side events; and invest in new technologies as a strategic factor in the logistics sector.

About Sil 2009, its President, Enrique Lacalle, said: "During these 11 years Barcelona has become the annual meeting point of logistics, as an instrument of effective and profitable for doing business and contacts in a professional atmosphere""international and friendly, hard to beat".

SIL 2008

In the last edition, which coincided with the tenth anniversary, the Sil had strong growth and a dramatic development, with an estimated EUR 2050 million turnover.

The invited country was Brazil and the 6th Forum Mediterranean logistics and transport, Turkey. The Hall was attended by 50.136 visitors and more than 1,000 exhibitors from around the world.

The 7th Edition of the Meda Logistics & Transport Forum, Mediterranean Forum of logistics and transport, with the theme 'towards a Mediterranean logistics community', coincides with putting in place of the Union for the Mediterranean, central to the economic integrationwhich confirms the pioneering vision of this forum which, since 2003, has created a platform of meeting and reflection for the sector. This year's Edition is preceded by the successes in the six previous editions, 2003 to 2008. The 2009 Edition of the Forum will address issues related to the new impetus given to the Euro-Mediterranean partnership and its integration across the Union for the Mediterranean, as well as the importance of the sector of transport and logistics as economic pillars and determining factors for integration into a unique Mediterranean and United maritime market.

Algeria is the guest country in a forum which will analyse the various results arising from the implementation of the different European projects for the development of the Mediterranean logistics area and the State of the port infrastructures at the second Summit of leaders port. For the first time in this forum, will open the debate on the business opportunities which represents the rail sector.

Within the 7th Mediterranean Forum is carried out the project ' Invest in Med ", co-financed by the European Union and with the aim of developing foreign investment and trade flows in the Euro-Mediterranean region. It's an important business meeting that allows a great interaction between the Spanish and European companies with the rest of companies from the countries of the Mediterranean arc. The program ' Invest in Med "it will strengthen the relations of the logistics sector at European level and help generate business and sales for the exhibiting companies from the Sil 2009. It is an ambitious programme of EUR 12 million (9 of them are provided by the European Commission and the remaining 3 million by members of the Consortium and its sponsors) covering, between 2008 and 2011, approximately 200 meetings to be held in the different countries comprising the Euro-Mediterranean region. These meetings take place in BtoB meetings, representative of industry conferences, trade missions of Exchange, etc.

The Sil eleventh is the most international and most necessary of all the preceding ones to date. In the current economic context, the Hall is making a great commitment to the global market and will have the increased presence of international companies in the history.

So it refers to international participation include the presence of Panama as guest country. In this regard, the authority of the Panama channel, which presents his project of enlargement which will make a direct investment of more than $ 5 billion, still the largest infrastructure initiative Latin America, the maritime authority of Panama, which will represent all the country's ports, and companies of the prestige of Safety Garage Panama, BG Logistics and Panama Forwards, have already confirmed their attendance at the 2009 Sil.

Colombia has also decided to bet fully by the international logistics and maintenance and has a 500 square meters of exhibition hall. The Hall will be the framework chosen by the Colombian Government to present the plan which has recently been adopted and on which vertebrará the logistics system of the country for the future. This plan provides for the creation of a total of 20 logistics platform that will be implemented in three stages: urban 2 platforms and 2 centres of air cargo in Bogotá and Medellín, a dry port in Buga, a platform in Cúcuta and a logistics platform in support of Cartagena de Indias (first stage); a platform in the port of Barranquilla and a centre of air cargo, a multimodal platform in Barranca Bermeja, a Manitales platform, a platform in the port of Buenaventura, distribution centers in Cali and a border platform in Ipiales, along with Ecuador (second stage); a platform in Maicao, a zone of logistics activities in Santa Maria and Turbo, a port which is not yet developed, a multimodal platform in river port and urban platform in Bucaramanga (third stage).

Brazil, guest country of last year, returns to bet on the Sil and deals with a stand of 300 square meters. The Brazilian representation will be headed by the Special Secretariat of ports (Sep), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the national agency of transportation (Antaq). The ports of Suape and Santos, as well as leading companies in the country as Aliança, Andrade Gutierrez, pound Terminais (Libra group), POG-IN logistics Intermodal and Multiterminais will be present.

The participation of companies from France will be also featured in the 2009 Sil. So it refers to the French participation is noteworthy the bet made by the Languedoc-Roussillon region, CRFI Nord-Pas de Calais and the Conseil Général des Pyrénées-Orientales. The latter has shown a great interest for Sil 2009 due to the existing logistical connections between Spain and the region, which has a large logistic area in Perpignan.

Mexico, with a stand of 100 m2 led by the Mexican Government; Algeria, with the participation of the main ports of the country; Italy, with the presence of Aleda, Port Authority of Naples and TimoCom, among others; and Morocco, with the outstanding participation of Tanger Med Port Authority and Lasry Maroc, also bet on the next edition of the international exhibition logistics and maintenance which is intended to register its most international Edition.

They have also confirmed their participation companies from Portugal, Belgium, Luxembourg, Andorra, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Turkey, China, India, Hungary, United States, United Kingdom, Greece, Russia, Czech Republic, Argentina, Chile, Finland, Korea from the North, Japan and Switzerland.

The international exhibition logistics and maintenance is the scene of the 2nd 'Supply Chain Outsourcing Forum', where the protagonists are the logistics operators. DHL Supply Chain-sponsored and organized by Idom consultancy, this event brings together leading practitioners in the sector.

Will bring in this second edition, under the title of 'The new borders of the Logistics', it together to directors of operations and logistics from different sectors who want to improve their operation already externalized outcomes, which are evaluating different options of subcontracting in transport, warehousing, planning, etc., who want to make contacts with other users and logistics providers to compare experiences or who seek innovative solutions to improve the management of its Supply Chain.

Among the objectives of the 2nd Supply Chain Outsourcing Forum highlights show what value-added services can provide a logistics operator, how to acquire technology through 'outsourcing' or integrate effective processes and work teams. The twelfth Symposium International Sil - El Economista bring all attendees the reality and experience of Panama as a privileged space for international trade and logistics sector.

The Minister of Commerce and industries of Panama, Gisela Álvarez of Porras, will open the block of conferences with a presentation that will take as the title ' Panama: logistics platform of world class '. Then the Secretary general of the Superintendency of banks, Amauri Castillo, will speak on ' Panama: international banking centre of Latin America '. The general manager of the free zone of Colón, Nilda Quijano p. shall submit to all attendees the Columbus area as an important logistical enclave of Panama. Under the title of 'Free zone of Colón, Center for Global Logistics for the world' will explain the development suffered by the area in recent years and the importance of this strategic location for the country.
