SIL 2008, ten years of success in the service of the logistics and maintenance

SIL 2008 will have an area of 70,000 square meters and more than 1,000 participating companies exhibition.It outlines because as a space suitable for meetings and communication between professionals and companies in the sector. For this year, the forecasts estimate overcome 48,000 visitors last year, thanks in part to the great offer that, as every year, defines the Hall. In the words of Enrique Lacalle, President of the Sil, "this year's program includes everything (...)" "new technologies and a very important international program".
The most broad and philosophic offer in logistics
In its tenth anniversary, the Sil has expanded its space for exhibitors that will be available for much of the capacity of the Palace 3 and who will share with infrastructure palaces 2 and 3 of the Gran via exhibition, in a clear bid to the logistics operator,, transport systems, area W-Transnet, area of the industrial vehicle and area for information and RFID technologies.
On the other hand, the companies exhibiting in Hall 2 will be all those that are related with the sector of maintenance, as well as the areas of training and demonstration.
By sectors, the Sil is divided into:
• Storage, equipment and maintenance: space dedicated to automation and control; trucks; containers; container and packaging; industrial equipment; cargo facilities and areas of terminals; lifting platforms; storage systems and facilities etc.
• Infrastructure, transport and logistics systems: airports; Customs agents; fleet control; export processing zones; companies of navigation; infrastructure; logistics operators; logistics platforms; ports; spare parts and accessories; cargo transport systems; trailers; etc.
• Information technologies and RFID: dedicated to the communication and data processor systems; systems of e-commerce and e-business; Engineering; real estate; identification and radio frequency (RFID); industrial consulting; research and development; labelling; control of the transport and data, among other facilities.
• Rail: Public administrations; auxiliary equipment; manufacturers of rolling stock; Engineering, construction companies; infrastructures, superstructures and electrification; locomotives; operators; signalling and telecommunications; etc.
• Industrial vehicle and auxiliary industry: with the participation of leading manufacturers, importers and distributors of products used in the manufacture, repair and maintenance of commercial vehicles dedicated to freight. Commercial vehicles, mobile boxes, trailers, bodies.
Also, Sil also has different areas such as:
• Area W-Transnet: designed as a 'transport marketplace', a space of exhibition and meeting of companies involved in the transport sector by road. Designed for small and medium-sized companies in the sector.
• Area of the industrial vehicle and auxiliary industry
• Sil-Icil intelligent warehouse: with the demonstration of a real store in continuous movement which show selective automation applications that provide an adequate profitability.
• SIL training - IFTEM: an area of demonstration of operators of forklift trucks.
The Sil reaches its tenth edition preceded by the success and growth to date, thanks to the interaction of four lines of action that have been present since the first edition: be the meeting point of the logistics Sector and increase more and more its international projection. Year after year manages to attract more exhibitors and international visitors, becoming bridge of connection of the European market with the Latin American, the of North Africa, Middle East and the Mediterranean basin, especially the area of the Maghreb and of the Southeast Asia.
Another key goal of the living room is becoming a forum for logistics knowledge, a qualified place for reflection. Therefore it promotes a prestigious calendar of side events that take place throughout the days of its conclusion; also investing in new technologies as a strategic factor in the logistics sector.
A full room of parallel events
As every year, Sil will host, in parallel with the lounge, the holding of various events and technical conferences and the 11th edition of the International Symposium - the Economist, a space of reference for the 'know-how' of Barcelona. For 11 years, the debates of the Symposium are a clear commitment of the Organization to bring tangible value to professional attendees with participation in issues of topical rapporteurs benchmark, this year with Brazil as guest country.
Also, also held the 6th "Mediterranean logistics and Transport Forum", in this case especially dedicated to Turkey. This year the Forum will address issues relating to the entry into force of the Euro-Mediterranean free trade area and the importance of the sector transport and logistics as economic pillars and determining factors for integration, a unique Mediterranean maritime marketscheduled for 2010. Under the title 'towards a community logistics Mediterranean', will analyse also the different outcomes arising from the implementation of the various European projects for the development of the Mediterranean logistics area and the State of the port infrastructures.
The second day of the 6th Mediterranean Forum will serve to learn more about the status of investments and the management of the port infrastructure of the Mediterranean shore, with the point of view always released in 2010.
The Conference will be used to learn about opportunities for business and investment in the Mediterranean emerging markets – especially that of Turkey. In addition, during 3 and 4 June, and in the framework of the Sil, within the Mediterranean Forum 6th of logistics and transport, and aiming to continual improve the contents of the Hall, is planned the realization of the business meetings on transport and logisticswhose aim is to provide a meeting point between potentially collaborating companies with activities relevant in all subsectors of the logistics, whether industrial, merchants, public officials, etc.
Finally, the comprehensive programme of the Sil 2008 Conference will feature a few meetings about port logistics, zones and warehouses, another dedicated to the railway, on the maintenance and storage, the Cidem day, Anfac day and, as a novelty of this year, the ' Supply chain outsourcing Forum' and the first day of logistics real estate.
