Biogran: Automation in the manufacturing of requests thanks to SSI Schaefer

Biogran, leading company Spaniard in the manufacture, distribution and commercialisation of natural and ecological products of quality, bet by SSI Schaefer to tackle a project of automation and optimisation of his logistical installations in Madrid.

As it affirms Valentín Moraga, director of Supply Chain of Biogran, “Decide modernizar our systems and engineering to achieve increase the productivity. We select to SSI Schaefer by his capacity to design a solution for our present and future needs, by the quality that have his products and material and also by his experience in this type of solutions. The project passed much better of the planned being in the threshold of ‘alternative more optimistic' so much in terms of execution as in results in production. This allowed us cover our aims in productivity without leaving to serve to our customers in any moment”.

With some 30 million € of turnover and with an upper growth to the 2 digits in the last 5 years, Biogran saw increased his activity and his sales of such form that decided to bet for improving his productivity of picking in the existent warehouse. After the phase of quality consultancy and analysis of data, SSI Schaefer designed a new logistical solution that increases the number of positions of picking and maximiza the performance of the operarios reducing to the half the 3 turns of work and consistently with reduction in the times of delivery to his customers.

By means of a system of carriers SSI, the requests circulate by the installation and arrive to the cédulas of work where the operarios, guided by terminals of radiofrecuencia, realizar the picking of the lines of necessary request of his zone. Besides the software WAMAS C of SSI Schaefer realizar the volumetric calculation of the request and chooses the size of box more adapted for the sending, optimising like this the level of filled of the boxes and reducing the consumption of cardboard.
