The SIL is recast for 2006 and commitment more presence in the sector of maintenance

Enric Lacalle, President of the Organizing Committee of the SIL, introduced in mid-December 2005 the new objectives of the SIL for the 2006 Edition, to be held between 23 and 26 May. He presents several new features, including the own Refoundation and renaming of the Hall, which will be called international logistics and maintenance.

While known abbreviations and the logo will not change, the inclusion of the term "maintenance" in the name of the Hall is a clear reference to the effort that will be done from the Organization to increase the presence of this sector at the fair.

Other news for 2006 will be a greater internationality, more days and an increase in the exhibition area, occupying the halls 2 and 3 of Montjuic 2.

Lacalle explains that the name change has as main objective to group together in a same room all logistics related sectors, also providing entrepreneurs and professionals both logistics and maintenance for a space dedicated to them and what can be found both future clients and potential suppliers. At the same time, it seeks to position itself as a reference of the maintenance at European level. In this regard, and to promote the presence of the maintenance in the next edition, scheduled a day dedicated to this sector only and, in the traditional dinner of logistics will also exist a specific award maintenance.

Also, SIL 2006 is designed as a very Sectored lounge, even with different colours of carpet according to the area. In addition, from this Edition, there will be a consultative body by way of Committee for each of the sectors.

On the other hand, Lacalle explained how the Symposium is designed for 2006. It will last a day (specifically on Wednesday, the second day of show) and it will have a much more practical and economic approach consisting of four sessions. Thus, you will have a crest of the Spanish logistics, a debate between the President of a major multinational International (to be determined) and the director of a means of communication, a debate on the Asian market and a session where comparing port cities and their models. For the first edition the elect are the ports of Barcelona and Antwerp and is expected that involved the mayors of each city.

In short, the 2006 SIL aims to extend even more space and the provision of logistics, and especially in the maintenance sector (although it already has a good representation), and more, grow to encompass all the existing supply of both sectors. In this sense, Lacalle said that "The SIL is the natural classroom for maintenance companies", in reference to the presence of these to other fairs as Construmat, Hispack, where they generally attend lack so far of a specific room to them, and wants to be SIL 2006.
