Jungheinrich Opens a new centre of spare parts

The past 6 September 2013, Jungheinrich inaugurated a new centre of spare parts in Kaltenkirchen, situated north of Hamburg. In quality of general contractor for integral logistical systems, Jungheinrich has designed and built a central warehouse, from a new logistical concept centred in the management optimised of spare parts. This new centre has put the foundations to answer to the future challenges of the market, including a distribution 24/7 and a global logistics of spare parts more agile and efficient.

After a period of construction of 18 months, the central warehouse of spare parts and the managerial team of spare parts moved to medidados of August from his previous location in Norderstedt to the new centre of spare parts in Kaltenkirchen. The investment realizar in this project has rondado the 35 million euros. To the long and width of some 65.000 square metres, the new ship offers 20.000 square metres of space of storage, including a warehouse autoportante (silo) of 31 metres of height and near of 65.000 articles stored in 110.000 locations. The warehouse generates some results of until 1.000 positions by hour, allowing in this way distribute pieces of spare to three time zones distinct – America, Central Europe and Asia. “This means that Jungheinrich is establishing a new standard in the logistics of spare parts, consolidating his competitive advantage in the business of spare parts and increasing his ratio of availability until the 98 percent for his as a whole active customers, ” declares Dirk Schultz, director of the Service Post-sale of the Group Jungheinrich.

The space devoted to offices in the centre of Kaltenkirchen occupies 3.800 square metres, and has been designed according to the principle of the “open space”. “The existence of roads of transparent and direct communication between the members of the team constitute the clear advantage of this distribution of the space”, explains Stefan Brehm, responsible of the management of spare parts in the Group, the one who adds that “the requests entrantes can in this way process of a more efficient way, being able to do arrive to our customers the spare parts requested faster even.” The new centre of spare parts provides safe employment and with perspectives to near of 250 members of the team that moved from the ancient location.

This capital project has been implemented by the division of Logistical Systems of Jungheinrich. Also they have been involved the area of spare parts, the available unit for the zone north of Jungheinrich and the department of automatic systems   –manager to schedule and implement the automatic slope of the project–. The system of management of warehouses (SGA) and the technology of control also have been facilitated by Jungheinrich.
