The University of Innsbruck needed a central and flexible storage that could be installed
without problems in a new location, taking into account the transfer scheduled for 2012 to a
new building. Denios got in a short time a system consisting of six containers
alarm which allowed efficient and totally sure of the most diverse substances storage
dangerous.
The challenge
As a University with a great tradition, the Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck offers a wide range of training and research with more than 16 courses. The University employs over 4,500 employees and has a useful area of more than 200,000 square meters, with a total of 75 buildings. The move to a new building is expected in about 3 years.
The University of Innsbruck had up to now no choice storage for hazardous substances which comply with the legal regulations. On the campus were stored, in a decentralised manner, more various dangerous substances, such as flammable liquids or contaminate water, corrosive and poisonous substances. However, the storage did not meet the legal provisions. The University was commissioned to create a centralized storage of hazardous substances that prioritized all the relevant legal requirements.
The main challenge was to complete a system of containers which could relocate in the shortest possible time when the University return to their new location.
The main challenge was to complete a system of containers which could relocate in the shortest possible time when the University return to their new location.
The solution
The University of Innsbruck commissioned comprehensive planning and the implementation of the project to Denios, his partner in the field of storage of hazardous substances. As a workaround, Denios experts recommended a system consisting of six containers of hazardous substances linked together. The special solution, tailored to the requirements of the customer, is composed of four containers alarm passable F90 to store various hazardous substances and a container for receiving F90. The Union of this complex with the University building occupies another container. The container facility F90 satisfy all the legal rules and the Decree on flammable liquids (VbF, by its German acronym).
Denios completed the entire project in just two months. In the first place was laid a foundation for the system of containers. In a second step, were mounted containers, linked together and equipped with a deck to a slope. With a corridor connection, it can be containers directly from building University, separated only by a door alarm.
Denios finished all the system container to the University of Innsbruck in only two months.
Outcome and usefulness
The University of Innsbruck got a solution of containers for secure and centralized storage of all treated hazardous substances. Thanks to its modular construction, the system can be placed in a new location when the University be moved. The University of Innsbruck provides for the installation of other storage systems for hazardous substances with Denios.
