Energy efficiency and renewable energy
Sonia Pomar Perez, Secretary general of Fegeca
19/07/2013Recently, the European Parliament in plenary session on 14 March 2013, adopted its report on the route sheet of the Commission's energy 2050. The report stresses that the reduction of the energy consumption in buildings should be a "central element" of energy policy in the long term in the EU, and calls for a reduction in the energy consumption of existing buildings, 80% by 2050 compared to 2010 levels.
Today there are a wide range of technical options to cover the heat demand. The best results are obtained with systems that bet on the combination of efficiency and renewable energy.
The heating market technologies have been perfected during the past 30 years. Large investments in research and development have achieved an increase in the energy efficiency superior to 30% in heat generators. If in addition, combined with renewable energy, increasing the efficiency can reach up to 40%.
Globally, the trend towards greater efficiency in the field of buildings in the EU is irreversible. However, the large deficit in the modernization of the same, hinders the achievement of the objectives set by the Commission.
It is undoubtedly this aspect in which EU members should focus all efforts of countries: the updating of the existing buildings to the State of current technology, taking into account both the facilities and the envelope of the building. In this way, you can get to save up to 50% of the energy consumed to cover the heat demand and the preparation of hot water.
The technology of heat generation systems revolution is a great challenge for installers, planners and investors. It is necessary to have a coordinated approach of all parties, so that it takes into account in a comprehensive manner, from primary heat, storage and the use of renewable energies, the optimization of the heat distribution and heat emission system appropriate adaptation.
The additional qualification and continuous training of the personnel responsible for planning and process, is essential in view of the growing complexity and the number growing systems that offer solutions.
The document edited by Fegeca, entitled 'Efficient systems and renewable energy', details the latest news that you can find in the market, and presents case studies that demonstrate the savings that are achieved by installing new more efficient equipment combined with renewable energy.
