The FECIC in Brussels denounced attacks on Catalan trucks of meat in France
on March 29, 2011
Before the conflict generated following the attacks of French pickets on trucks of meat Catalans, the Federació Catalana d' industries of Carn (FECIC) has moved, through the European Parliament, three questions to the European Commission. Among these, raised through the MEP of CDC, Ramon Tremosa, lies the question of whether these attacks avoid that companies can do business outside their natural markets, also if the European Commission meets this situation and what kind of measures be taken to ensure the free movement of goods and thusmake sure that Catalan export firms can transport goods to France and even to other countries.
This complaint of the FECIC is complemented with the newsletter sent by the Ministry on 24 March to the Embassy of France on this issue and with the commitment, in turn, report to the European Union on the conflict in the next European Council of Ministersto be held at the beginning of the month of April in Brussels.
With these measures, taken both by the FECIC and the Ministry, is expected to get a definitive solution to this problem, which is more alllá from attacks by French on trucks of meat Catalans pickets, which also affects the free market in Europe and has an impact on the level of holdings of meat, with a notable drop in sales of Catalan slaughterhouses. This is the conclusion of the matenida meeting yesterday between the President and the Secretary general of the FECIC, Jaume Blancafort and Josep Collado respectively, with the representative of the Government in Catalonia, Joan Rangel, general director of agricultural and livestock resources of the Ministry of environment and Rural Environment and marine (MARM)Margaret Arboix, and the director-general of agriculture and livestock of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Miquel Molins. In addition to the commitment of the Executive to try to put an end to this conflict as soon as possible, the Ministry is committed to improving the circuits of communication with the Catalan meat organization, since the FECIC represents a majority contribution to exporters of meat in the country.
