Jaén tomorrow welcomes the presentation of the international project 'oilca'

The CTSA building (complex technology of advanced services) located in Geolit, science and technology park in Mengíbar (Jaén) will be the stage for the introduction of the draft international OiLCA, led by Citoliva and approved by the SUDOE EU initiative. An initiative that arises to consolidate the SUDOE space of territorial cooperation to strengthen the economic and social cohesion within the European Union. Personalities such as Assistant Director-General of Industrial development and innovation of the Ministry of environment and Rural and Marine Affairs, Ernesto Ríos López and the President of the Centro Tecnológico del Olivar, oil, Citoliva, José Juan Gaforio, will chair the event.

Main objective of the OiLCA project aims to determine the carbon footprint of the production of olive oil, the management of their waste and costs that are associated. For the quantification of greenhouse gas emissions greenhouse (GEl) will be used as a tool life cycle assessment (LCA) modality of cradle-to-door, which will evaluate four processes: the olive grove, the millthe orujera and composting as a waste management option.

Thinking about its implementation, has created a consortium involving the following entities: Citoliva (Jaén); Centre Tecnològic de Manresa (Barcelona); IAT Andalusian Institute of technology (Seville); TRC, Centre for waste Valorização (Braga-Portugal); and LCAI, Laboratoire Chimie AgroIndustrielle (Toulouse - France) as charitable partners and AOTAD, Associação of olive growers of after-os - Montes e Alto Douro (Mirandela-Portugal) as associate partner.
