The management of the manure as an approach of progress for the livestock sector
April 28, 2008
During the first edition of the Spanish Congress of Integral management of livestock manure, organized by Giro ct in Barcelona on 16 to 18 April within the framework of Expoáviga, were he has reflected on the multiple factors that interact in the cattle manure management: the feeding of livestock, farm management, transport logistics, agricultural fertilization and technological processes of transformation.
The conclusions of the Congress have encompassed the entire management of the cattle manure and its different thematic areas. The set of presentations and panel discussions have demonstrated the need to manage the cattle manure in a holistic manner to ensure the sustainable progress of the livestock sector, from the origin to the agricultural fertilization management, precision feeding and treatments adapted to local reality.
This general conclusion has been a first step to define future needs for research and development in the sector: economic analyses and sensitivity studies that value the net costs of production based on environmental factors, studies on dynamics of pathogenseffects and dynamics of pharmaceutical products contained in the manure, studies of the analysis of life cycle of livestock production and the development of diagnosis and decision making aid tools.
