The wind industry installed in Spain 727 MW in the first half

The total installed wind energy capacity increased by 727 MW in the first half of the year in Spain, reaching 19.876 MW to June 30, according to data from the wind energy business association (ESA). The target set in the renewable energy Plan (PER) 2005-10 is that this technology ends the period with a capacity of 20.155 MW, which will be achieved at the end of the year, according to the forecasts of EEE.

The power of the wind sector has increased 3.8% in Spain in the first six months of the year, which is a halt on the pace of growth in recent years. The sector has grown below capacity real (the average of recent years has been 2,000 MW per year) due in large part to the implementation in place of the registration of Preallocation in mid-2009. To restore the normal development of the industry and meet the goals laid down in the new National Plan for renewable energy 2010-20 (which establishes objectives for 38,000 MW of wind power by 2020), it is necessary, according to the ESA, which is closed as soon as possible the regulatory framework that will govern the sector in the coming years.

The wind has covered 17% of the electricity demand in the first half, with a production of 23.089 GWh, according to data from Red Eléctrica de Spain (REE). In the first half, incentives for the wind sector in respect of premiums have risen to 863 million euros (according to data of the CNE), representing 26% of the premium to the special regime and 10.9% of the fixed costs of the system. In these first six months, the premiums to the wind energy have been 2.3 euros per month in electricity bills for an average-Spanish household.
