The EPS like residue of construction and demolición (RCD)

At present, the application of the disposals of this royal decree boost a greater valorisation of the RCD at the end of his useful life, splitting of a segregation in origin in function of the Plan of Management of Waste of Construction and Demolición presented. In this document considers the type of waste generated, the planned quantity and the management that will realise of the same. Equally they have to identify the measures of prevention of face to minimise the production of waste in the work.

On the other hand, the National Plan Integrated cheese cheese of Waste (PNIR) 2008-2015, establishes the guidelines of performance and aims of management of the different types of waste, between which find the RCD. The Directive Mark of European Waste, of November of 2008, transpuesta to the Spanish legislation through the Law 22/2011 is the base for all the regulation and development of management in matter of waste. This directive establishes some basic principles of performance, prioritising a series of performances on others inside the management of the waste: in the first place it will have to boost the prevention and avoidance of the generation of waste, second will promote the reuse of the same, to continuation will prioritise the performances of recycled of the residue, if it is not possible will execute actions of valorisation (included the energetic) and like last resource will effect measured of elimination in dump.

The products of construction no always can recycle or reutilizarse, will depend on his characteristics and the use given in the edificación.

Although the waste of construction always relate with heavy materials (concrete, brick, stone…) the nature of the waste can be very miscellaneous. The utilisation of the plastic materials under construction and edificación every time is greater, because of his numerous properties the plastics are presents in the containers and packagings of the new pieces, in the material of the installations, in the isolation, in the impermeabilización and a long etc.

To the equal that other plastic materials the EPS, as much as material of packaging like insulating material or aligerante, is a fraction more than the RCD generated in a work and therefore his residue will have to regulate by the valid rule in the matter. The peculiarity of this material estriba in his possibility of recycled of 100% and the experience that already has in the management of his waste for being a material used traditionally in other already regulated applications as it is the case of the containers

The clean waste of EPS, as for example the ironingings of EPS from a work of demolición, properly disgregadas of the rest of RCD of a work, can recover again and incorporate like product recycled to the productive process. They exist skilled centres, designated centres ECHO-EPS, able to incorporate again the clean residue to other products of construction.

The part of this waste that was not clean or was not easily recyclable by means of triturado and reincorporación to production, can follow other ways like the reconversion in poliestireno rigid by means of his fusion or his energetic valorisation. They exist recicladores specialists in able plastic to realise all these treatments. Thanks to his properties, the EPS has of the capacity and the system to guarantee a correct management of the residue once arrives at the end of his use
