September 16, 2010
In the project ECO EPS of Anape part Cicloplast, entity constituted for the proper management of plastic waste, and through a collaboration agreement with Ecoembes, entity dedicated to the management of packaging and packaging waste. The first sector to which Anape has addressed to seek collaboration in the task of EPS waste recycling has been the home appliance and electronics of consumption, mainly for two reasons. On the one hand, because it is one of the main destinations of application of the containers and packaging in expanded polystyrene. And on the other hand, because the packaging of these products have a high rate of recovery.
The collection of this waste is carried out in 'clean points', large surfaces of appliances and overflow, among others, warehouses for sale which are the places where are concentrated the generation of packaging waste and expanded polystyrene packaging. When a sufficient quantity of waste has been generated, they move to the EPS ECO centres, where they are evaluated, managed and treated under the supervision of Anap for new uses and applications. New parts and products of expanded polystyrene, light concrete porous bricks and pellets of PS used in the manufacture of new items like hangers, video tapes and photographs, including frameworks can be obtained with recycled material.
