'The factory Digital' Siemens reduces costs up to 20 per cent
November 27, 2008
Siemens presents for the first time in Spain one of his most important innovations: 'the Digital Factory'. This solution is a design system of industrial processes that reduce projects and manufacturing costs and the time of arrival on the market.
These savings are generated to recreate all the prior process of manufacturing and construction on a computer, analyze failures, and solve them, without having undertaken any investment materials. In this way, the factory or production chain only will begin to build a time is designed for maximum performance. This advance risk management can generate savings of up 20 per cent of the costs of the project. The time-saving is another great advantage of this application, as the development of projects can be reduced between 30 and 60 per cent.
The novelty of this model lies in the integration of virtual modeling and simulation tools. They can for example, design and evaluate production lines in advance, and to optimise the position of the employee, using ergonomic tools to improve their daily task. This model also analyzes the logistics and supply chain, which accelerates and perfects the implementation of the project.
In addition, the automation of the company acquires great importance, since very complex processes that cannot be launched without simulation models. It also allows to improve the performance of the factory to create different scenarios of production where it already exists.

This communication helps to generate significant improvements in the productivity of the plant, and which information is available to carry out a more efficient management of resources.
Knowledge that Siemens has in this area, it has recently joined PLM Solutions, an expert in the solution of Digital factory, which completes the overall management of the production life cycle. Siemens provides its solutions in automation, engineering and development of the industrial plant, whereas PLM is responsible for the design and its modernization.
