Founded in 1959, the livestock cooperative of the Valley of Pedroches, Covap, is currently one of the flagships of the Andalusian and Spanish cooperative. Based in Pozoblanco (Cordoba), it has 15,000 members, more than 500 employees and a turnover of 272 million euros in 2009. Throughout its 50 years of history, it has been adapted and consolidated at the heart of a natural region with very defined characteristics, where the dominant landscape is the dehesa, and extend its influence to nearby regions of Extremadura and Castilla - La Mancha, Spain. Already 10 years ago, Covap began to export to countries such as France, Germany or Japan and since then, it has not stopped growing.
Proof of this are numerous investments. In 2002 opened a new factory of milk and in 2004 a second characterization of calves. A year later, in 2005, he got up a slaughterhouse for slaughter of sheep, cattle and pigs, and expanded the Iberian pork with new industry drying houses and cellars, as well as rooms of sliced. Later, in 2007, resulted in the construction of the plant's feed and a line of production of ready meals. Finally, in 2008, he started the activity of the so-called Center for research and quality agri-food in the Valley of the Pedroches (CIPAC).
