The evolution of a hopper
November 25, 2008
At the end of the 1990s, Rotecna started its journey beyond its borders. In some countries of Northern Europe it was common to find farms of weaning and fattening that grouped a large number of animals, so it needed a hopper that could feed the large group of pigs. For this reason, Rotecna designed the Rotecmatic Hopper, called Swing Feeder for the international market.
It was a hopper for wet or dry food with a "simple and effective" dosage, thanks to the eleven positions for graduating the precise distribution of the food. The hopper is already presented in two versions: Maxi (fattening) and Mini (weaning), and its design was conceived with a distributor that, as a pendulum, the animal flawlessly it for the fall of feed. In addition to a central area stainless steel for dry food, hopper was completed by two troughs lateral pacifier type.
With the Rotecmatic it was possible to provide the optimal for groups of 60 animals and all ages feeding: from piglets of 5 kg (with the Mini) to the animals of the phase of fattening (with the Maxi). Its design allowed that animals - even at the stage of weaning - accessing food easily, without training, and with only a small thrust over the central distributor through its natural of littering instinct.
This intake facility "favoured the good atmosphere in the back yard, that animals should not compete for food and in other feeders." All had their chance to intake and therefore the growth of them was uniform. "In addition, the two lateral troughs improved appetite, and the reception of the feed", says the company.
Over the years, "Rotecna has optimized its design and part of its materials, but without deviating from its initial idea: easy access to food for all the animals". It has modernized the lines of the pendulum, has expanded the capacity of the hopper and the semi-transparent fact, and has added four more to the graduation positions.
After 10 years of research
At last year's Eurotier (from 11 to 14 November), Rotecna introduced the latest version, that "responds to the very essence which saw her birth, but evolved, with innovations discovered after a thorough study and ten years on the farms around the world". The new proposal, advances the company, will be ready in a few weeks.
