25 April 2013
The project was presented in a day organised by ELO and Syngenta, celebrated in the Ministry of Agriculture, Feeding and Environingingment of Madrid and inaugurated by Begoña Grandson, general director of Rural Development and Forestry Politics. The concept of reverdecimiento and how this allows to develop a more sustainable agriculture and a greater alimentary hygiene, keeping the productivity and profitability of the agricultural exploitations, has been the central axis of the day. In this context, gave to know measures, in a lot of cases of big simplicity in his implantation, that answer to the challenges that presents the gestión of the natural resources and the biodiversidad in the agricultural exploitations.
Between them, fits to stand out the value to create around the terrains cultivated bands multifuncionales, cultivated specifically to obtain different environingingmental profits. For this use vegetal species of high production of pollen and nectar to increase the number of insects pollinators, and that at the same time can contribute to avoid the erosion of the floor, develop the population of worms to nourish birds and small mammals, etc., profits for the ecosystem that repercuten directly in the productivity of the arable terrain to the that surround. Alike effects obtain with the plantation of fences around the fields of crop.
Thierry of l'Escaille, general secretary of ELO, affirmed that “the PAC shows that we have to reconcile environingingmental sustainability and food production. The performances in pro of the biodiversidad do not have why be a load for the agriculturalists, but rather an opportunity and a challenge to do more efficient and competitive the processes of production. We consider that 'Landscapes multifuncionales' is an ideal initiative to boost the knowledge and the adoption of measures that will help to guarantee the competitiveness and the profitability of the agricultural sector in Spain”.
