Cenfim And Amic bet by the incorporation of technology in the piece of furniture

Cenfim collaborates with Amic (Grouping of the Innovative Piece of furniture of Catalonia) in a project focused to increase the innovative potential of the companies manufacturers of the sector. With this purpose, looks for differentiate his products by means of the application of the technology to the same and, like this, increase his competitiveness.

The participation in the project contributes to the companies opportunities of business in four fundamental appearances:

• knowledge of applicable technologies to his products;
• develop of ideas of innovative products that incorporate these technologies;
• conceptual design of an innovative product;
• study of feasibility to manufacture and commercialise the design realised.

To develop the project have established two phases: one for the study of the technologies and another to develop products that incorporate technology.

The first, of study of the technologies, includes the identification of technologies and possible applications in the sector of the piece of furniture eat:

• Luminescence or broadcast of light by a material like consequence of his absorption of power.
• Able sensors to transform physical or chemical magnitudes in electronic values (for example: sensors of temperature, colour, of humidity...).
• Multimedia solutions to present or communicate information using multiple media (physical or digital).
• TIC or Technologies of the Information and Communication to treat and transmit informations.
• RFID Or identification by radiofrecuencia, technology that allows to identify a small device that it can be adhered or incorporated to a product to receive and answer to requests by radiofrecuencia using antennas.

This phase finalises with a day of transfer of knowledges and the conclusions of the study for, from this, generate ideas for the development of innovative products.

On the other hand, the second phase contemplates the development of products that incorporate technology for what will define , in a first moment, a wallet of products of technological base resulted of the possibilities of application presented to the company taking into account his typology of product. Next, it will select the product to develop and will issue a diagnostic. To continuation, will elaborate a briefing that will allow finally execute the conceptual design of the product and the study of his feasibility.

The project, that has the participation of five companies manufacturers of furniture, will have at all times of the advice of experts of two technology centres specialised in the piece of furniture and will have like result the design of a product that incorporate the technology.

The project Tech&Piece of furniture is funded by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade (MITYC) through the program of support to the Innovative Business Groupings (AEI) to contribute to the improvement of the competitiveness of the Spanish industry and of the European Bottom of Regional Development (Feder) ‘A way to do Europe'.
