Espinosa bid to open up new foreign markets to curb the fall in consumption of wine

The Minister of the middle atmosphere and Rural and marine, Elena Espinosa, committed to the opening of new markets, in order to curb the fall in wine consumption. Did public during his speech, on 13 April, at the meeting of control to the Government in the Congress of Deputies. In particular, Espinosa explained that his Department is trying to go to countries "with great capacity to consume", where she is valued Spanish wines so that national operators to facilitate "a good value for money". As an example, the owner of the MARM referred to the national programme of support to the wine Sector, with a budget of 65 million euros and more than 400 specific programmes, and whose destination of Spanish exports countries are United States, MexicoSwitzerland or Japan. On the issue of wine surpluses accumulated by the vineyards, he has stressed that, as a derogation to this campaign, it has encouraged the distillation for alcohol use of mouth in almost 2 million hectolitres. According to Espinosa, this measure could solve the problem of the outstanding stock, improving the situation of the sector, stabilize the reactivation of the contributions and obtain a sufficient quantity of use of mouth alcohol to cover the market. He also referred to measures put in place to improve the competitiveness and ensure the viability of the sector, such as the restructuring and conversion of vineyards to adapt varieties and reduce production costs.
