Agriculture, precision and respect for the environment 'dominate' Sitevi 2009
December 14, 2009
The first days of December consolidated Sitevi 2009 as a true 'workshop' of aid to the professionals of the sector wine and fruit and vegetables, in the opinion of the Director of the contest, Martine Dégremont. "This position of unavoidable event gives rise to great expectations from our visitors." "Forcing our teams to be constantly oriented towards the future, to anticipate the evolution of the sector, innovations, and how not, at an international level", said. Sitevi Director also made reference to the "particularly tense" context experienced by both sectors - wine and fruit and vegetable - at present, for it to describe the event as a "global response" faced similar difficulties. In particular, the event saw an influx of 44.592 professionals and expanded its international profile, with the assistance of numerous international delegations of China, India, United States, Chile, and Ukraine, for example. Even so, the first five countries visitors are still Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Portugal and Germany. The show also had a participation of 720 companies originating from 21 different countries.

Renewable energy and sustainable development
In line with the current state of the sector, sustainable development was this ' shape' in the pageant. Thus, one of the novelties of this last edition was sustainable development with a space dedicated to renewable energies. At booth advised users on these sources of energy alternatives and other subjects: mechanization of ecological materials, recovery of rainwater, energies photovoltaic and wind energy, etc. Sustainable development was also addressed through some workshops and conferences, as well as field visits, free of charge, organized by Sitevi.
Today, farmers, growers and other agricultural producers are facing the need to 'recover' healthy, close to the cultivated, less productivist practices and to reduce the use of fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides. In this sense, are carried out actions linked to biological or reasoned, agriculture, waste management, the plan of savings in energy, and water resources to the lower weight of the packaging, among others. In addition, implanted the biodynamic-based sustainable agriculture techniques. These methods help plants withstand by themselves alone the external aggressions (diseases and insects,) for example based on natural products used in homeopathic doses as the stinging nettle or horsetail. Something usual in vineyards in the French areas of Burgundy, the Loire and the Jurançon.
In the field of agricultural machinery, the main challenge for manufacturers is precision agriculture. It requires respect for the environment, adjustment of fertilizers, pesticides and seeds with the help of specialized software and control of production costs.
At the Sitevi Hall, showed a wide range of material for cultivation and irrigation. The event gave priority to sustainable development through new irrigation drop to drop - sprinklers, filters, valves - systems. Specific activities such as workshops, conferences and visits to farms were also organized.
Trends 'on the rise', on the basis of the 'Innovation Awards'
Precision viticulture 'appropriates' new sensors transportable to the vineyards of technologies to determine the optimum date harvest or software placed in machines vendimiadoras. On the other hand, the administration of the vineyards taking into account the protection of the environment, the health of the operators and the optimization of quality, 'gain weight' between the producers. The third trend in oenology refers to new possibilities for the treatment of musts and filtration or to simplify the programming of the presses. And finally, the latest trend is part of the bottling, packaging and analytical monitoring of the quality of the wines. An example would be an economic and ecological cleaning of shooters that simulate the presence of a bottle in order to create a circuit closed with the washing fluid, or the use of easy-to-clean cardboard and ecological.
