Agreement between the Board of Extremadura and the Fivin to promote the autochthonous wine

On November 6, in the framework of the Iberian food fair (Fial), the Board of Extremadura and the Foundation for the research of the wine and nutrition (Fivin), they agreed a protocol for the promotion of the wine. The second Vice-President and Minister of economy, trade and innovation of the Junta de Extremadura, María Dolores Aguilar Seco, present at the event, argued that the agreement will allow the development of actions and programmes, such as the so-called 'wine in moderation' which is carried out in many countries. By virtue of this agreement, shall be appointed a Scientific Committee of Fivin in Extremadura and participate in fairs and national and international competitions. In addition, facilitate the dissemination of articles in media. It will also lead to various activities in colleges of pharmacists and doctors in the region. During his presentation, Dolores Aguilar, highlighted the importance of the wine industry for Extremadura: "It's a product that identifies our region". Currently, the region is the third in production of table wine of quality and with D.O., from across the country. In 2008, Extremadura invoiced over 45 million euros in wine intended for other countries, according to the Superior Council of Chambers of Commerce, industry and navigation of Spain. As a percentage, sales of wines from Extremadura accounted for 2.28% of Spanish exports.
