January 11, 2010
The town of Atotonilco (Mexico) will host the largest plant of treatment of waste water in the world. The installation will have a nominal capacity of treatment medium 35 cubic metres per second and a maximum of 50 cubic meters per second, including solid waste and sewage sludge generated. The new plant will have a system of cogeneration which will allow you to take advantage of the biogas produced, which will result in greater energy savings.
Overall, this infrastructure will be the water of a population of over 10 million and a half of inhabitants. From everyday uses, these wastewater flow to irrigation of 80,000 hectares, as well as covering some 2,000 jobs. Spanish companies, as Acciona water will manage, in all their projects in Latin America, drinking water for over 2 and half million people.
