Oxagua Studies alternative treatments for the elimination of contaminantes emergent in waters

The contaminantes emergent are chemical products that do not measure neither control usually in the environingingment, but that they can produce hurtful effects so much in the half as in the human health. In his majority, generate by the big quantity of chemical products that use in our daily life, presents for example in drugs or products of personal care. His progressive increase in waters supposes an increasing problem, of effects still strangers to half and long term.
The project Oxagua pursues, precisely, develop alternative treatments to delete this type of contaminantes of the waters, through processes of oxidation advanced or AOPs. To achieve it, two technology centres of the Valencian Community:
To the term of 2013, the expectations centre in obtaining experimental results on synthetic matrices and evaluate the AOPs studied. Among others results, expects develop methodologies of chromatographic analyses, joined up to spectrometers of masses of last generation, to determine the presence of a selection of drugs of stood out interest in waters, as well as advance in the study of the selectivity and reactivity of the AOPs alternative, identified like pioneers for the elimination of pesticidas, drugs and surfactantes. The AOPs that are studying are based in the utilisation of the ozone, only or in combination with other reagents, and in the use of electrochemical oxidations advanced.
Expects that the results of Oxagua allow to seat the bases of back technological developments, explotables by companies of management, treatment and equipment, oriented to the elimination of contaminantes emergent in the cycle of the water and provision that suppose new industrial applications and opening to new markets.
