Waters of Valencia and Malaga water achieved the first risk management Aenor certificates

Aguas de Valencia and Malaga (Emasa) of water have become the first organizations that obtained the certificate of risk management which grants theAsociación Española de normalización y Certificación (Aenor).
This new certification, in accordance with the technical specification Aenor EA 31, published in 2013, accrediting organizations have implemented a system of risk management, which helps minimize global risks that can affect the organizations, ensuring their sustainability and the achievement of its objectives. Aenor EA 31 specification reflects the recommendations and guidelines of the international standard UNE-ISO 31000 risk management: principles and guidelines, which is a standard of character not certifiable.
In addition, this certification has other benefits: helps to mitigate the damage and effects caused by actual incidents and promotes practices to be able to respond to such emergency situations, ensuring the continuity of activities and a return to normality in a minimum time. For example, before a serious accident or a computer problem or a fire in the facility critical. In addition, companies should establish indicators for the follow-up and review of the risks.
This certification proves that organizations comply with the requirements of the technical specification AenorEA 31.
Such certification, pioneer in the management of risk in organizations, is based on the methodology of continuous improvement and is compatible with other management systems, such as described in the ISO 9001 quality and ISO 14001 environmental management.
It is addressed to all organizations, regardless of the sector of activity, size and applies to all the activities of an organization, considering all the risks. To obtain recognition, organizations must meet the requirements of the Aenor 'EA 31' specification. Thus, they have to identify, analyze, evaluate, and treat the risks to which they are subjected its activities, to be able to control them and react.
In the case of external risks, ranging from environmental (for example, a gas leak), even problems of financing (a denied credit), through the updating of new technologies, new competitors or changes in the tastes of consumers, among others. In the case of internal factors, the risks range from those of infrastructure critical (like the fall of a data processing center), until (hacking) information security risks, labour (an accident of the staff), health (episodes of pollution inherent in the management of the water) or Government of the Organisation (bad management practices), among others.
The CEO of Aguas de Valencia, Dionisio García, and the Councillor for environment of the Town Hall of Malaga and Vice President and CEO of Emasa, Raúl Jiménez, have received the awards of the President of Aenor, Manuel López Cachero, at a ceremony held at the headquarters of Aenor.
