The Empordà Logis already have sewage treatment plant
October 19, 2010
The Catalan water agency (ACA), and the Department of Territorial Planning and public works, through Cimalsa have completed construction of the sewage treatment plant for waste water of the Far d'Empordà, which has a capacity of 700 cubic meters per day. This sewage treatment plant has all the elements of a biological treatment and will serve the municipality of el Far d'Empordà and the polygon logistical Logis Empordà.
The set of the installation has two lines of debugging in parallel to ensure the process without having to make stops techniques from the whole plant.
To deal with extraordinary situations of rain or large point discharges, facilities have been designed to support a wealth of input of up to 2.2 times the flow medium nominal, without affecting the quality of the outgoing water.
The facilities of the sewage treatment plant reach about high yields of elimination of pollutants reaching 95% of cleaning in parameters such as the BOD5 and above 90% in the field in suspension (month), which guarantees at any time verify the regulatory requirements for the disposal and improve them.
The works, which have been implemented by the company HPSA, concrete and environmental services, SA, have made an investment of EUR 1.4 million. 71.5% Of the work have been funded by Cimalsa, while the remaining 28.5% has been assumed by the ACA. Also, the ACA has carried out the works of Canalization of the network of waste in the municipality towards the new sewage treatment plant.
Through the agreement signed between the two sides at the end of 2006, Cimalsa was responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the works of the sewage treatment plant, which has allowed to move the solution to the sanitation of the municipality of el Far d'Empordà.
Completion of the new network fire
On the other hand, have now completed the construction of a specific network fire works in the Empordà Logis, for an amount of EUR 1 million. The work included the construction of a water tank of 1,240 cubic meters of capacity and the installation of the pumping and piping system. With the new network, the Empordà Logis becomes first Cimalsa in having a Center and in one of the few all of Catalonia.
Since the entry into force in March 2007 of the new regulation of safety against fires in industrial establishments (RSCIEI), a high percentage of storage activities need to have a deposit and equipment of pumping to the plots to ensure the pressure and water necessary for the operation of fire fighting systems.
With the aim of rationalizing resources and avoid that the majority of activities implemented in the Empordà Logis may face an investment raised for the construction of their own infrastructure against fires, Cimalsa has decided to build a separativa network fire use and community maintenance among all the users in the Empordà Logis of the Centre.
Logis Empordà
Logis Empordà is located in the municipality of el Far d'Empordà, 5 kilometres from Figueres, and 25 of the French border. Its size and its proximity to France make Logis Empordà the cross-border logistics platform largest in Spain with 727.839 square meters total, of which 522.470 are intended for logistics and complementary uses.
It has been estimated that Logis Empordà might generate fully functional up to 2,000 jobs. The sewage is dimensioned to cope with the flow generated by the logistics area, as well as the current population and possible future growth of the urban centers of the municipality of el Far d'Empordà.
Logis Empordà is a polygon with clean economic activities that do not generate industrial waste, which is why the sewage treatment plant will be designed to deal with waste assimilable to the domestic.
The intermodal terminal Empordà
The future intermodal terminal of the Empordà has as main objective to become a railway 'hub' to add the burden of trains coming from various parts of the Iberian Peninsula with the port of Barcelona from charges and that from this Terminalthey may continue with long trains to Europe and vice versa. In this sense, the intermodal Terminal of the Empordà will become a cornerstone to promote the prototype of the Franco-Spanish border in the Mediterranean corridor and enhance cross-border transport of goods.
In this sense, it has been chosen by the Ministry of development as one of the priority projects of the 'Strategic Plan for the promotion of the freight rail transport' and also by the European Union as one of the projects of the trans-European transport network.
The terminal will have access in mixed width (European + Iberian) and it is expected that it can be connected both with the cross-border Le Pertús tunnel and Portbou.
It will occupy a surface of approximately 30 hectares, mostly plot for building, and it will integrate with the current logistical grounds of the Empordà Logis. The terminal will be designed with a capacity of 300,000 containers and 300,000 vehicles per year. Investment estimated for this project is 117,9 million euros, which is expected to be 26% private investment.
Projects of rail access and environmental studies are currently in the process of drafting. The drafting of the basic design of the terminal area was licitará in the coming weeks.
The development of this project has established the company Terminal Intermodal Empordà SL (TIE), 52% owned by Cimalsa and 48% from the Port of Barcelona.
The Iberian rail Highway
The Department of Territorial Planning and public works, DPTOP and the port of Barcelona through TIE, have signed a collaboration agreement with the authority Portuaria Bahía de Algeciras, the public agency of ports Andaluces, Lorry Rail and Renfe to conduct a study of development of the railway motorway, from the port of Algeciras (Cádiz), until the Far d'Empordà (Girona), and its connection with the railway motorway to Bettembourg (Luxembourg).
The project, called highway railway Iberian (AFI), aims to offer a new service of intermodal transport of semi-trailers by rail in the Iberian Peninsula, in connection with the current and future French Railway highways to the market of transport and logistics of roadallows to decongest roads, crossings and increase the participation of the railways in the transport of goods in an efficient manner.
