SIL is facing its 12th Edition with firm and safe passage
May 6, 2010
Considered the second European exhibition dedicated to logistics and the first in Spain and the Mediterranean arc, Lacalle explained in the presentation of the event to the media that "The SIL has already overcome the economic crisis affecting Spain with note"", because a great market, that is, at a time as the current is an honors".
The new formulas work
With a total 615 registered participating companies, the SIL will register - according to data from the Organization - a slight increase in participating companies with respect to the previous edition, "motivated by the creation of new participation formulas devised by the Organization of the living room". In this sense, Enrique Lacalle explained that "Aware that today companies look more than ever the spending, we have used the imagination and we have devised a number of possibilities so that everyone can be present in the SIL".
The objective was clear: present solutions to companies that can adapt to all tastes and needs, so that no one is left out and "that is left is voluntarily".
And as we already happened in its previous edition, SIL 2010 again characterised by its international character. This year, 45% of participating companies come from 66 countries, notably and companies France, United States, Italy, Morocco, Panama, China, Austria, Lebanon, Switzerland, Mexico, Turkey, Andorra, Belgium, Germany, Argentina, Algeria, Greece, Holland, Chile and United Kingdom.
Other developments in its 12th Edition
- France, guest country
- The Principality of Asturias will be guest of the autonomous community
- The Lebanon, protagonist of the 8th Mediterranean logistics forum and transport
The eighth edition of the Mediterranean Forum of logistics and transport will be invited to the Lebanon country. Precisely the Lebanon has positioned itself as a significant site for the Mediterranean countries, thanks to the ambitious plans of construction and privatization of large infrastructures of transport, a fact that has led him to intensify their trade relations with Spain. In the 8th Mediterranean logistics forum and the transport will take place the 3rd Mediterranean ports Summit and the traditional business meetings, which will contact different companies to encourage contacts and business.
- Exhibition Village
In collaboration with the ICIL Foundation, the international exhibition logistics and maintenance presents the Exhibition Village. It's an area in which several brands show live and direct their products, services, solutions and improvements through practical examples of picking, reduction of environmental pollution, sustainable development and improvement of green logistics.
The Exhibition Village will feature three areas differentiated on the basis of the represented sector: technology and storage; renewable energy sources; and reverse logistics. Among the many benefits offered by this area of exposure to their exhibitors must emphasize the implementation of its products and services in real time, attention to brand enhanced by their presence in the only access to the Exhibition Village, and the direct visibility of their products and services at the best price.
- SIL Tech Area
In its last edition SIL opted for the technology sector with a day dedicated to information systems applied to logistics. The success of the working day positioned at the international logistics and maintenance to launch an area dedicated to new technologies, the SIL Tech Area. It is a space which seeks to establish a clear relationship between business and knowledge with the creation of stands of design and a room for presentations to all major companies of traceability, RFID identification systems, mobility technologiesconsulting, engineering, consulting and telecommunications operators to submit their news, products, services and carry out practical demonstrations.
- SIL Trans Area
SIL Trans Area will be the new exhibition area dedicated to the sector of transport by road within SIL. SIL Trans Area will offer tailored solutions for all companies in this sector by creating a zone of economic and affordable exhibition directed to all small and medium-sized enterprises of distribution and transport who wish to be present.
- Hospitality Area
The Hospitality Area is a stand of 180 square metres located in preferred location to enjoy it for one, two, three or four days of the event. In the Hospitality Area companies wishing to do may invite their customers and receive visitors of the SIL to give the presentation of your product or service and offer them a cocktail, glass, etc.
In these times of cost reduction, the Hospitality Area is an economic alternative "to a reversal of 120,000 euros in an area of 180 square meters luxury" by approximately 15% of the cost, they explain.
- Logistical circle
It is an exclusive space in the living room where managers and directors of major companies of Spain logistics - previously selected by the Organizing Committee of the Salò-- can be 'networking' and contacts, exchange views and to have private interviews with those companies that wish to. About 400 heads of logistics have already confirmed their desire to belong to the logistical circle, at the same time that have participated in a study that will be presented at SIL 2010 with the aim of detecting what are the main concerns of the sectorthe aspects most valued when hiring a logistics operator, more outsourced logistics services or the level of involvement of enterprises with environmental practices.
- Sectoral Workshops
This year we will be celebrating for the first time two 'workshops' dedicated to the sectors of food, pharmacy and health, where they will be raised and discussed the problems of the supply chains of these sectors which are currently generating large logistical contracts of the time.
The logistics Italy, to 'tutti plen' in the SIL
In the Italian Pavilion and in the framework of the SIL on 26 and 27 May, Italy will present all their potential logistics through a series of interesting technical presentations.

Asimisimo, RAM (Mediterranean motorway network) presented the project of developing a network of motorways of the sea as valid alternative to road transport, so it refers to costs, energy efficiency and sustainability. At the international level, the network of motorways of the sea represents an essential instrument of integration to the European Community to other countries in the Mediterranean area on prospects for a large area of free trade.
The subject of logistics and sustainable mobility will be addressed by ALOT (the Agency of the Lombardy East for the transport and logistics), who will be present for the first time in the SIL for promoting river transport in the North of Italy system to achieve collaborations with Mediterranean logistics operators.
And absolute novelty will be present at SIL 2010 of the simulation of the portacontáiners crane, a project of the University of Cagliari in collaboration with the port of Cagliari. This demonstration is scheduled for Wednesday, May 26, 2010 and interested visitors can see and try the Simulator in a container located in the Italian area.
With the title 'Integration of logistics and transport in the South of Italy, key in the relationship of the Mediterranean', Italmed presents a project coordinated by the region of Campania. In this project have been also implicated Abruzzo, Basilicata (University of studies of Basilicata), Emilia-Romagna, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio (AREMOL), Puglia (AP Levante), Sicily, Tuscany and Veneto. Its presence is due in part, in the words of the Organization, "to the effort by presenting offers who adapt to the needs and pockets, favouring the high involvement of logistics operators".
Note also the presence of the business organization of operators logistic logic, entity which has coordinated the participation of a group of logistics companies in this edition.
