MTorres, to cruising speed
It was this same philosophy which enabled MTorres presented to the market with an 'invention' that has made disappear many headaches: the TORRESTOOL.
Currently, the company acts in aeronautics, wind energy sector, and the paper industry, with a network of people managed in order to get the most out of engineering capabilities.
MTorres does standard machines. You want to respond to the client that reached its facilities with a problem in the manufacture of a piece. 15% Of turnover is dedicated to r & d in a clear sign of the philosophy of MTorres. Cetenasa, Fatronik and Ikerlan are also some technological centres in which the company supports its innovative capacity. With Fatronik, for example, there is an agreement for the parallel kinematics applied to the aviation sector, a machine which takes many hopes because it responds to a need for speed and stiffness in the machining.
Its engineering capacity is very important, with 40% of its human resources focused on this activity. MTorres production is very low. In the plant navarra practically only contract parts are assembled.
Another significant fact: 80% of customers repeat purchase.
An invented history
In 1986 the first team for the aeronautical sector, a machine laser, which marked the beginning of a relationship with the aviation industry, was developed that today focuses on clients such as Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, House... In other words, is hardly likely visit a plant of the leading companies and not find MTorres machines.
MT Torres process engineering was established in 1997 with a plant in Murcia and another in Madrid to continue growing in the aeronautical sector. In fact, the plant of Murcia, of huge dimensions, is ready to perform tooling for the Airbus 380, for which it has carried out two major projects.
Four years ago he delved into a new field, with its r & d in the field of wind turbines, again demonstrating its interest in tapping their synergies into sectors apparently away from each other. Wind commercial and industrial activity was launched in 2002.
Today, close to 400 employees and presence in these three fields shows the profile of MTorres.
32% Of the turnover comes from the Spanish market, which is located the most sales for this sector abroad. The opposite situation, at the moment is that of the wind sector, where the 100 of the turnover comes from Spain.
TORRESTOOL
But, what kind of teams built this company for Aeronautics? The truth is that each machine is different, but no doubt, TORRESTOOL is one of the protagonists in the ranking of 'inventions'. It is a flexible tooling that was precisely that opened the door for the company in the aviation sector. It is a concept that is based on the placement of vacuum cups allowing hold by space empty one-piece whatever its geometry.
Today there are all the surfaces of the parts in Catia. On the basis of the surface in the design program, the programmer can define the location of all the points, so it is easy to turn this program into a program piece that you can configure a tooling with the guarantee that the panel will be placed in the correct position. Otherwise it is necessary to use a fixed inventory by panel, which obliges to a warehouse in some cases of enormous dimensions due to the type of pieces that are handled in the aircraft industry.
TORRESTOOL now long configuration and also avoids all the problems of logistics and storage.
The standard cups have possible angle of 45 ° ± variation, keeping the center of the kneecap in fixed in space. A patented double spherical system allows the programmer to define just the center of the Cup, then mechanically adapted to the Centre. The Cup generates a vacuum for a stronger of the tooling support and also expels air to facilitate the movement of the piece when it is placed.
This system of construction equipment is used in any of your machines, both in the of recantear, as in the cutting by laser, which provides great flexibility and a remarkable time savings.
Other machines
TORRESMILL is a machine for recantear parts to the plant of Airbus in Illescas, where carried out parts for the Airbus 380. The machine will be delivered in April and its function is the carrying out the recanteado contours, opening of Windows, or drilling functions. It is a system in which TORRESTOOL and TORRESMILL are connected and is equipped with the latest advances in machine-tool: tool wear compensation systems, changers 24 tools, layered head, probes measure Renishaw to measure deformations of parts, the carbon fiber powder suction system.
Gantry machines are also to deposit a tape on a mold, usually with complex geometries: a head puts the tape and from de-coiling system, is deposited with a compactor or a declared roller. For example, in the case of the Airbus 380, there are many pieces are made from carbon fibre. The manufacturing process is to apply fiber in several directions preset by a program on a mold that can be many meters long. Subsequently applies vacuum and heat in an autoclave. After the application of the fiber in flat and/or curved, material cutting is made before cure it. For this a special head incorporates a system of court ultrasonic for after the curb cut.
There are also developments in the field of the laser. In the process of machining of aluminum for aircraft panels thickness is reduced to lose weight, a panel that is part of the fuselage only requires greater thickness in areas of larger structural load. It is a chemical called milling process which consists of applying a plastic coating to the piece and cut with a blade to expose only a few parts of the piece to the action of the acid. The piece is introduced in a cuba with an acid bath to achieve a certain thickness controlling time and temperature. This process of cutting blade was done before with templates, but MTorres has been automated so replacing it with a cutting laser through the TORRESLASER. A 150 Watt laser and guidance of 6-axis allows the Court on the TORRESTOOL.
This machine for cutting of the coating Maskant (plastic coating) stands out for its six-axis, rather than the five which may have a milling machine. A sixth axis controls the distance in perpendicular direction to the panel to make the laser cutting. From here the pieces will acid vats and after the chemical bath become to carry equipment for recantear. In some cases, for example British Aerospace has two machines on the same multiflexible gantry, so that the same machine is used for the coating presplitting. Then the piece takes baths, and is again put on the same multiflexible tooling with a second gantry make the recanteado and the drilling of the piece.
