Signus collects nearly 200 thousand tons of tires used in 2010

Taking advantage of his presence at the fair Motortec Automechanika Ibérica, Signus (integrated system of management of tyres used) held its IV meeting with producer Adheridos, which covered different aspects on the activity developed by the entity. Jesús María Núñez Ímaz, director-general presented the official data of the management of the tires out of use during the year 2010: Signus picked up 195.480 tons of tires used in all of the points of generation of Spain to the requesting parties. At the end of 2010, the company had more than 32,000 generation points registered in the system. As in previous years, and due to the fraud resulting from the placing on the market not declared, Signus picked up close to 13,000 tonnes more of what is required by law, which is 7%.
With respect to its management, the 17.259 tons of tires reused in market opportunity and retreading are kept in 9% of the total managed. On the other hand, 97.213 tonnes was allocated to material recovery and 77.596 tonnes to energy recovery. Since the start its operations in October 2006, Signus has allocated 60% material recovery and energy recovery 31% of the total of its management.
