The UPNA participates in a project of development of materials composed of PVC based in nanorellenos
1 February 2012
The aim of the project in which they participate researchers of the Public University of Navarra (
In the project develop the compound materials polymer-nanorelleno by means of the synthesis and the treatment of nanoarcillas that enter in the matrix of the polymer.
In the first place pretends improve the properties of fotoestabilidad of the polymers. The ultraviolet rays, responsible of the degradation accelerated of the polymers, cause the discoloration and the loss of provision of the material, shortening his useful life. The second aim is the improvement of the refractory properties. The nanorellenos have the capacity to act like mechanical reinforcements and retardantes of flame at the same time, so that the new materials can increase the thermal sensors stability of the material.
Finally, the improvement in the properties of permeación of the materials contemplates the development of new formulations with properties barrier in front of the gases and volatile organic molecules of low molecular weight, thanks to the addition of the nanorellenos. Of this form, will treat to reduce the diffusion of the gases through the polymers modified.
