"Although the decision of the SPI change the NPE2012 of Chicago, headquarters of the NEP for a long time, was primarily based on the substantial economic and logistical advantages for exhibitors and visitors, the new information from Visit Orlando confirms our conviction that the abundance of holiday attractions and pleasure in Orlando will provide an exciting additional benefit to the participants of the NPE2012", said Gene Sanders, senior Vice President of the SPI in charge of exhibitions and congresses.
The classification in the first place of Orlando is based on national statistics created by D.K. Shifflet & Associates, Ltd., a travel research company, and international travel of the U.S. Department of commerce data. The total number of visitors to Orlando in 2010 rose to 51.4 million, reflecting an increase of 10.5 per cent over the previous year. The section on business trips (including exhibitions and congresses) rose 2% to 9.5 million. International travel, making a total of 3.7 million visitors, increased by 12.6%.
