From 22 to 24 of the last month of may, Mannesmann Demag conducted at its headquarters in Montcada (Barcelona), with the collaboration of Wittmann, a day of open doors to customers. The motives of the perpetrators of the Mannesmann to be satisfied seem sufficient. On the other hand, and to some extent as a result of the above, more than 120 people had been confirmed in writing its assistance to this open day. In session of morning and afternoon, since Thursday, first day of the call, could sense that the interest of professionals would be expected. And, indeed, it was. The large number of people registered on Saturday dispelled all doubts about the appropriateness or not of having included a holiday in these days, with a very significant assistance from companies of the Levant, which noted the interest of this region by advanced technologies.
Without a doubt, the main character during the three days was the Ergotech of 50 tonnes with two groups of injection, 120 horizontal and 80 vertically, for two-component injection. As you can see in most of the exhibitions held worldwide and in the light of expressing many industry experts, the injection of two components, so far more oriented towards the car, is expanding to a large number of applications. And mannesmann demag is located on the same line. In fact, the number of orders for this type of machines has grown a 100 per cent with respect to previous years, as explained themselves responsible for the company in the lectures given at the same time to the demonstrations.

During this time, the Ergotech of 50 tonnes was producing a piece basis for a Siemens smoke detector, moulded in ABS-PC as a rigid main material and TPU as soft secondary material.
The system of modular construction that mannesmann demag uses is that has allowed this German company adapt to the demands of the market of this kind of machines for special applications. This issue was also addressed during the Conference, in which it was explained as the Ergotech are built on a basis of mechanical, hydraulic and common command for all versions. Introduces, in addition, the concept kit as extension of classical modular construction, which combines closures with injection units and pumps.

A new concept of modularity

Defined as the new concept of modularity, the kit allows to easily adapt components, as for example a unit of secondary injection for injection of two components, the basic machines. In the case of the machine that was used during the demonstration, the second injector is vertical, but there are also other kinds of executions. Some of these other possibilities may be: h-H parallel, perpendicular to the mold L, or on the main plasticizer to 30-degree inclination R. If a piece needs require it, there are rotating dishes can be adapted to all available closures, whether horizontal or vertical, to be able to mold simultaneously in two chambers, a more proper parts application in two colors.

There are many kits for other applications. Among others, include electric servomotors for cargo, in replacement of the hydraulic drive of spindle motor; autonomous or integrated systems for gas injection; systems for injection with decoration inside the mould; coinyección of different materials such as e.g., recovered PET with Virgin, etc. All of them are designed according to the principle of ease for coupling to standard basic machines, themselves in this way the concept of special machines.

100 T to a case of Hewlett Packard

Other machines that were shown during the day was 100 tonnes ergotech Pro - vision series that Mannesmann is promoting with intensity since the last Equiplast. On this occasion he produced a case in ABS for hewlett packard and at the same time demonstrated the ease of implementation of a robot of extraction, with the installation of a Wittmann robot model W 420 with latest generation CNC controlattached to the machine via a Euromap interface.
Attendees were able to see the robustness of the Pro machines, as well as the quality control standard in combination with the robot. Also was the filtering system by-pass of the hydraulic oil of the tank using a standalone filter of the RRR signature, indicating that all Ergotech machines have shots planned for this purpose on the tanks.
The third machine that could be seen operating in the facilities of Mannesmann in Montcada was an ergotech 100 compact, producing a part of Hewlett Packard printer in polyamide, with 30 per cent of cargo. Thus, the display of the three versions available in the range of small machines was completed: Pro, Compact and System.
