Engel light manufacturing technology comes into operation at the University of Chemnitz
The use of sheet of thermoplastic composite with fiber such as organic sheets is becoming increasingly important in the manufacture of light cars. The objective of this research is the development of processes that allow an economic process in a scene of young materials, to achieve high capacity series. After having presented Engel, company represented by helmut roegele, an initial system for economic output in the last edition of the K, known as 'organomelt', the Technical University of Chemnitz Engel is facing the challenge as evidenced by its investment in light manufacturing cell. In collaboration with partners of the engineering plant and machinery, automotive, scientists and aerospace industries establish new processes of production for thermoplastic compounds with fiber and hybrid pieces based on existing knowledge. Engel will work with your Chemnitz as his collaborator of project.
Unique combination of preimpregnado and module of injection molding
The heart of the new production cell is a fuel transfer Engel insert 1800 H/500 L/400/90 with a robot arm jointed, which Engel joined with the plant. The production cell is characterized by a unique combination of preimpregnado and injection module. The preimpregnado module is placed as a unit of additional closure on the rotational dish in the vertical fuel transfer. He moulded the sheet of fiber with the correct form for a back injection.
"The plant allows us to implement closed and energy-efficient process chains for a nearly mass production of structural components with fiber reinforcement," says Professor, Professor Lothar Kroll, emphasizing the new possibilities. The plant houses a wide variety of combination of processes such as injection compression, injection sprayer and foamed of microstructures. Multiple axis robot acts as the interface for future automation solutions.
The automotive industry
Before the opening ceremony were several trials of injection of parts. The mold was also part of the complete solution of Engel. The manufacturer of the mold was the partner of the Austrian company, FKT Triptis.
More than fifty guests were able to see first-hand the enormous potential of this new technology of light manufacturing, including automobile manufacturers, suppliers of systems and transformers of plastic of all Germany. During the day, Peter Egger, responsible for application of machines on a large scale of Engel Austria technology, spoke about the machines and technology of Engel Organomelt technology-related processes.
