Europa Park: a green lung of 233,000 square feet in Torrejón de Ardoz

233,000 Square meters of surface area, the Park also has reproductions of the most emblematic monuments of the major European cities - such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the gate of Alcala of Madrid, the Fontana di Trevi in Rome or London Bridge -three lakes and a cybernetic fountain, whose water, light, sound and fire show put the finishing touch to the inauguration.

It has also participated Mundopark, which has contributed its grain of sand to the area of leisure and multiadventure dedicated to families. The park boasts four children's areas, of two types: one for children up to 5 years and others for the 6 to 12. Altogether, 2,600 square metres of children's areas have been created (for the smallest measuring 400 square metres and 900 for large).

In fact, both areas have facilities made exclusively for this park.

A park to live it

Visitors to the Park will find therein, as well as the replica of 16 European monuments, an original piece of Berlin wall, loaned by the City Council of this city. And, next to each of these reproductions, an explanatory panel with references to the original monument has been installed. The Park other 23 points of interest such as the picnic area, the waterfall, different places have also be signposted themed, viewpoints and bandstands.

The Park also has different areas of entertainment, such as a jetty, a Centre for archery, the Park on wheels or bicycles for rent, a zone multiadventure, a laser maze or a 'paintball' with electronic systems, a large Flying Fox and children's areas. Finally, the Park also has other services such as Café, an information and meeting point system of loudspeaker systems, signage and four areas of toilets.

On the other hand, made performances include the planting of 5,000 trees new, 60,000 shrubs and 120,000 season flowers, the creation of 190,000 square meters of green areas, with drip and sprinkler irrigation and three lakes. The biggest of them has an area of 12,000 square meters, has a depth of 60 cm and is navigable. For its part, the Lake of the Viking ship is 2,000 square metres and which surrounds the reproduction of the Tower of Belém (Lisbon) about 1,100 meters.

In the Park modern irrigation systems have been installed for drip irrigation to save water as well as new urban furniture - banks, chairs of wood, paper mills and drinking water sources - and has built a main road with a length of 2.4 kmmade with multicoloured pavers, as well as other side pressed dirt roads, with a total of 2.9 miles.

The Park also incorporates a 700 points of low consumption light, based on the energy savings, as well as 4 kilometers from talanqueras of wood to protect and identify certain areas, such as the margin of the stream, the Lake in Belém or children's and youth areas.

It should be recalled that in the area where it is located now Europa Park, more than 40 years was a large area of debris, becoming a focus of unsanitary conditions and insecurity. Instead, now stands here the largest area in green and leisure of Torrejón, with unique characteristics and which has resulted in one of the most important processes of urban transformation of the city. "In these areas settled for many years abandoned ships, slum and other marginal spaces, as slums and illegal orchards." In addition, Torrejón has always had a great lack of green areas and parks (...), so in our electoral programme collected the creation of six new parks, including Europa Park. "With its opening are already 10 new parks created in the city during the present legislature: Park of ash (2nd phase), of the Sun, April 3, Berne, ozone, Marquesas, Orbasa (2nd phase) the water and the North", explained the Mayor of the municipalityPedro Rollán, the day of the inauguration.

The entrance to the Park will be free of charge and will be open from 9: 00 to 1: 00 hours from Sunday to Wednesday; and 9: 00 to 2: 00 pm from Thursday to Saturday in summer time. During the winter will be from 9: 00 to 23: 00 hours from Sunday to Wednesday; and 9: 00 a.m. to midnight from Thursday to Saturday. In addition, to protect it from possible acts of vandalism he has proceeded to his fencing and night enclosure.
