BUSS creates "the world's largest installation" for the production of cable compounds
September 14, 2010
With this facility, which stretches through four floors of the building, eight different formulations of PVC with the same geometry of spindle and without having to make any change can be processed. Since the start, the installation has fulfilled all the expectations of the client, especially in regards quality of the product, reliability, comfort of handling and product changeover times.
The heart of the installation and head of "the unbeatable quality of the compound" is the amasador Buss Quantec 110 EV. This high-performance machine has an axis of kneading of 110 mm and a length of 15 l/D process. The shaft is designed with four wings (four-flight-technology) technology. An innovative and proven technology in more than 100 facilities.
Thanks to the entrance to the spindle enlarged area, it is possible to manipulate important volumes of cargo materials. The configuration of the mixing and kneading spindle used in this installation allows to produce compounds of color with a high content of loads and with excellent homogeneity. To create necessary pelletizing pressure, the PVC compound moves through a driving system of Cascades to a single screw extruder. The Pellet is then dry or alternatively with a relatively low pressure water mist, avoiding in this way points of temperature on the perforated plate.
A turnkey installation
The engineering of the entire facility, since the mixer heater/cooler for the production of the premezclado through a Gravimetric dosing for the supply of line of compounding, up to the pelleted of the PVC pellets, the cooling and drying for storage and baggingIt has been done by Buss.
With the comprehensive concept prepared by Buss in close collaboration with the client, achieved important goals such as, for example, the integration of the entire system of compounding in the production plant, saving time for the installation and commissioning underway with minimal impact on the existing production. Buss engineering also provided for the control of all of the installation, focusing particularly communication and coordination between the premezclador and the line of compounding, especially for the implementation under way, that currently only lasts a few minutes.
