New techniques of thermoforming on the day of open door of Illig

In the seminar organized by Illig volunteered conferences of experts on the State of the art of thermoforming and nine demonstrations of machinery showing practical applications for the production of a wide range.
The current third-generation termoformadoras machines and tools of the RDK / RDKP and RDM-series K have been the focus of this year's event. The field of application of the automatic machines forming under pressure of the RDK series, which combines training/drilling, as well as the number of RDKP, that forms and drills separately, extends from the production of containers hinged to trays. The series K-RDM, for its part, focuses on thermoforming of cups of any shape and size with tools of multiple cavity. Compared to the rest, the current generation of machines and tools achieved an increase in the speed, whose percentage is clearly in the two-digit area. At the same time, the energy efficiency and the quality of the product have been improved.
New facilities
The event was carried out in the new center of Illig customers, at the premises of Heilbronn. "We realize that our customers, even in the current economic crisis, have an increase in the demand for information on emerging trends in thermoforming and packaging technology." "The technologies used have been developed very quickly in a short period of time", explained Karl Schäuble, CEO of the company
The new customer centre is very important to Illig. "With this new building we have created an infrastructure modern and forward-looking to a center of direct communication on the thermoforming of plastics." In the future, projects will be developed here with the participation of clients throughout the process to completion. "At the same time, in this modern environment carried out training courses for the foundations and the practical application of thermoforming", said Schäuble. This newly-built building has an area of 1,800 square meters, of which 700 are to the customer centre.
What's new
As an example of the effectiveness of the RDM K termoformadoras of the 3rd generation, the RDM 70 K showed, among other machines, on the day of open doors. This model is equipped with an area of formed 680 x 280 mm² and has a 320 kN clamping force. A tool of 27 cavities, vessels with a diameter of 75 mm are made of RPET (material PET made from post consumer through the recycling of waste and the appropriate procedures for direct contact with foodstuffs) in 40 cycles per minute.
As a result of the significant increase in productivity in comparison with the previous series, new developments, especially in what refers to the technologies of tools, have caused a significant increase in the quality of the product: the dimensions were kept for all the vessels of the tool of multiple cavities with high definition of the outlinesuniformity at the edges of lidding, the uniform distribution of the thickness of wall, a high stability of the vessel (in the top-loading) and much more. All this is achieved by a controlled supply of individual air in the cavity, with up to 75% of the volume of air-saving of formed with respect to previous consumption, a new type of control of the prensachapa, as well as an optimized cooling of the tooling. This allows even a saving of material of up to 10%, while maintaining an exact criteria of repetition.
The new controller Illig ThermoLine increases the operation of the set of all components of the machine easily on the production line. At the same time, the non-productive times as the change in format or tooling are significantly reduced.
