Free mercury of precise measurement transducers
July 8, 2009
The melt pressure transducers play a main role in the process of extrusion control and are also used as a control parameter to the command of the extruder and melt pump, pressure from the molten mass indicates the shortcomings of the process that may lead to the interruption of the production. Companies that have recognized this, have been, until now, only reaching the required results of high quality using pressure transducers filled with mercury.
Since 2007, the European Parliament introduced a standard for the restriction of trade in measuring instruments filled with mercury. Within the next few years, the EU plans to concrete steps with regard to the reduction of mercury in the environment.
Gneuss Kunststofftechnik GmbH through its r & d Department has developed a new generation of sensors, actually exceeding the operation of the sensor filled with mercury. Thus, new sensors of Gneuss NTX are mercury-free and, therefore, not only are respectful with the environment, if not that also do not represent any risk to the health of the user. The accuracy and reliability of the measurement are on the same level that was previously only achievable with mercury. In addition, sensors are extremely robust and are characterized by a long service life.
