Siemens PLM Software has announced a computer revolution in technology of finite element analysis (FEA). Using commercially available hardware, the current production version of the NX Nastran software of the company allowed to solve a problem of structural analysis with 500 millions of equations 'virtually overnight'. The analysis was carried out to simulate the behavior of all structure of wing of aircraft in a test of curvature. The problem arising, with 500 million equations, was completed successfully in less than 18 hours and broke the previous record of Siemens PLM Software which was also established by NX Nastran to a similar problem.
Solved by NX Nastran FEA model consisted of hundreds of millions of networking with approximately 98 million of coverage and 49 million of solid elements. The resulting problem of finite element is composed of 500 millions of equations and had more than 600 million global degrees of freedom when executed a linear with one condition of loading static analysis.
