Magdalena Torres, responsible for this project engineer, explains: "strawberries are grown in back of land covered by what is known as black padded plastic." At the end of the season, this material is not reusable and required the hiring of another company specialized for the management of this waste generated. "This is a significant increase in costs for the farmer."
The multinational Italian has opted for Adesva, Center of agricultural companies driven by the Ministry of innovation, science and business to carry out this test. The objective is to compare the efficiency of its padding with the traditional black polyolefin which is usually installed in the greenhouses of production fresera, as well as the influence of these on the production and the quality of the product. The tests cover a range of thicknesses and various formulations to compare with this reference. Adesva already conducted similar tests in the last season and this will be his second experience in degradable padding.
