The Silk of Barcelona presents its new Packaging Division
In October 2007 La Seda Barcelona completed and consolidated his position in the market of preforms them and containers PET, up to the present time with plants in Greece and Turkey, through the acquisition of Amcor PET Packaging Europe - the European Division of packaging of the Australian Group Amcornow called Artenius PET Packaging Europe (APPE).
APPE, the new Division of Packaging from the Silk of Barcelona, producer of packaging and bottles of PET, has facilities in the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Belgium, Germany and Morocco. Produces about 9 billion units of preforms per year that, coupled with Artenius TeukPET and Artenius Greece productions, they are the production of preforms for packaging of PET of the Group at 12,700 million units annually.
This Division of business has seven production plants and one of PET recycling across Europe and North Africa. In addition, the structure of APPE includes 8 facilities operating from inside of the sites of clients and a centre of excellence in Brech dedicated to research and development, unique in Europe.
In this regard, through the acquisition of the production of PET and PET recycling and its Packaging plants plants, La Seda Barcelona has positioned itself as a multinational company dedicated to the PET Packaging that presence in 11 countries in Europe and 22 plants production manufactures and supplies PET and PET recycling customers. Also designs, transforms and sells packaging of PET and PET, performs tasks of r & d for the development of new applications and varieties of PET.
Priority for the future, the PET recycling
One of the priorities of the company in the coming years will be the producing PET resin and PET containers that incorporate a percentage of PET recycling with the aim of responding to the needs of the big brands give to their packaging of a 'green' component that is respectful with the society and contributing the fight against climate change.
R & d
La Seda Barcelona has, since late 2007, a centre of excellence dedicated to the research that explores new developments of PET.
The scientific complex, located in the production plant of APPE in Brech (Belgium) has a testing and development lab equipped with latest technology, a pilot plant of blowing and a bottle test center.
This center was initially marketed new developments across Europe until that volumes are important enough to transfer the production and the know-how to other plants of the group with highest production capacity and that respond to the requirements of customers and end consumers.
