The consumption of milk in United Kingdom, to debate

Ami Consulting has released a report on the current and future landscape of the package in the United Kingdom. The study refers to the potential for change in this segment based on consumption, political, economic or technological considerations. The study particularly affects the future role of the PET, recycled PET, HDPE, HDPE bags and recycled. In the same way that every material and format has its virtues also have their drawbacks.
A significant shift in the use of recycling requires a collected and recycled improved, evidence of safe use and approval of the authorities. Later the value chain there are important challenges in the process of filling and positioning in the market from traders.
This new study provides current data on the packaging of milk and check the pressures facing the value chain, to predict what can be expected until 2012. The main conclusion is that the Recycled HDPE will have a growing importance, but that the PET and PET recycled shall endeavour to maintain much of its growth without new pressure from legislators and that their advantages will give win market share in other segments of packaging.
John Nash, Director of strategic research of Ami Consulting, said: "consumers want environmentally sensitive solutions, but do not want to lose the functionality of the current packaging." "The industry needs to develop solutions based on intense analysis of life cycle aimed at consumers".
53 Percent of the milk purchased in United Kingdom is sold in supermarkets, 24 per cent through other shops, 7 per cent is delivered at home and 16 per cent in hostelry and collectivities.

Robert Wiseman opened its new factory in Bridgwater in December 2007. The plant will employ 500 people. Alpla has invested in facilities of own manufacture of bottles. About 130,000 tons of plastic are used for packaging milk in United Kingdom.
