Interview with Pilar Navarro, Director of Expoquimia/Equiplast/Eurosurfas at Equiplast 2005
' The three halls play something which for me is very important: the gray matter '
Equiplast/Expoquimia/Eurosurfas fairs are held for the first time under your leadership. Came from you of similar sectors?
I have four years working with these markets and fair bids representing. Two years ago, I was asked the Equiplast/Expoquimia/Eurosurfas address to give a complementary to the industrial world approach, structure it and be able to offer a cliente-mercado vision. My experience is quite extensive and deep in areas of marketing, marketing products, services and meeting rooms.
Do with what you found?
That same similarity found in other areas, as the Equiplast Hall, although it is more geared to the actual transformation
What other similarities exist between the three contests?
The three markets go through different processes and ways of development and technological innovation. All touch on something which is very important for me: "gray matter". The three markets are working at the level of scientific and innovation both to adapt to the new rules as to be competitive in the market.
He believes that you for the next edition of 2008, with more time, it could improve some element?
It is not a question of improvement, it is a matter of adaptation. Each picture has to be reliable to each market at a moment in time.
In addition to the regular presence of exhibiting companies, do something remarkable characteristic of this new edition?
It is a new phenomenon of this edition? What other news incorporates Expoquimia, Equiplast and Eurosurfas Edition of 2005?
In addition to Compositech, I would highlight the technology platforms of development. We have also reached an agreement with Cidem for everything related to the IRCs at European level, so we will have professionals of scientific development.
With regard to technical conferences we have traditional, in instrumentation and the Congress of the Mediterranean, but we've also added some new features. We have a technical conference dedicated to security, very important at this point in the chemical world. In addition, new regulations affecting the three sectors will be much more important in this second edition.
The main novelty is the RDI Expoquimia award, a recognition of the reality of a patent. The person who has had an idea on a doctoral thesis, which is already a reality in the world of the industry, receive award for technology development and implementation. Award is given the value of own products in a market dominated by large multinational companies and scientists. This is our small contribution to the development of the scientific world in Spain.
If not wrong is the first time that held all together halls at the venue Gran via. How do you view it? Do you have any importance?
Expoquimia moves but Equiplast/Eurosurfas already were there...
We understand that the change of location might cause suspicion in those exhibitors who participate in the fair since the 65, the first edition of Expoquimia 40 years ago. However, we believe that, once visited the new facilities, already not doubt the success of the call.
The venue Gran via boasts numerous interconnecting doors which reduce the Assembly process, which is also a significant reduction in costs for exhibitors, in particular in the recruitment of staff. In addition, the new site allows have free buses from the Centre of Barcelona and transport from the airport to international visitors. All the paths that can be done in this area are under way. We will bring to all its visitors quickly and comfortable that in 2008 they repeated without any doubt.
Which countries are most represented?
If we speak of direct exhibitors, Expoquimia the represented country is Spain because large multinationals in the chemical world have subsidiaries in Spain. However, if we look at the origin, the country is Germany, followed by United Kingdom and then Italy.
Spanish fairs, although called international, have a high "local" component, at least as far as visitors is concerned. Do you agree with this statement?
This year we are making an effort by the countries of the East because although they may seem distant, they are very similar to the Spanish market in terms of consumption and State of maturity of the market type. As for expositor-comprador - visiting of Eastern Europe, we have noticed an important demand. Course of China also.
In our case, must be taken into account to Expoquimia, with the platform of the 3 E's, is the second European meeting, after the German Achema, what compels us to market to cover an important part of the internationalization.
But there is a real effect and there is a high component of proximity in the fairs. Anyway I think that Spanish companies have a very important potential in the international market.
It says that there are Chinese exhibitors and of Eastern Europe has grown the number of exhibitors from other editions?
On the other hand, from the Organizing Committee and the Organization we are happy about the great representative of Italy, which translates in terms of quality and makes the offer very competitive.
Do to what extent it affects the proximity of fairs as Fakuma and Europlast Equiplast?
In the French market are occurring changes that leave no surprise. Where chemical, have ceased to organize some relevant fairs, so Expoquimia enjoys a great influence on France. Celebrate Equiplast/Expoquimia/Eurosurfas jointly, we attract a part of French professionals. It's a visitor in which we look forward.
From the exhibition point of view we have not appreciated Europlast remove us our exhibitors, but on the contrary, that while this fair focuses more on the segment of matrices, we have structured bids to have broad representation in all markets.
How do you find that the landscape of European fairs is structured? Many exhibitors have been complaining that there are too many fairs for years.
Fira de Barcelona is making an important bet which is reflected in the investment in its facilities. What factor plays the fairs industrial throughout the fairs of Fira?
The graphic arts are in third place despite wide competition. In the chemical trade fair sector, we are in second place. We are the reference fair for several sectors and very competitive at the global level. Fira de Barcelona has industrial fairs at the highest level as Construmat, food, Expoquimia, Hostelco, Graphispag or Hispack, among others.
From my personal point of view, a fair of consumption has a time and a given time. They are given an opportunity to market or an event, while the industrial are created by the own propulsion of the market. Hence its biennial or triennial nature against the annual calls for consumer fairs, most dedicated to the habits of consumption and leisure in a timely manner. The industrial has a different position and which forces us to be able to capture the entire market and translate it into the photo that I mentioned earlier.
How is the programme of technical seminars organized?. Are there any of these conferences dedicated to plastics?
In what position would put Expoquimia within their specialty fairs? and do Equiplast?
As for the plastic sector the first is the K in Düsseldorf, in second place is situated Plast Milan and thirdly, Equiplast. It also supports us belong to the Euromap, the League of the major European fairs of plastic.
