Huntsman presents Altiris, its new infrared reflective pigment

New infrared Altiris of Huntsman reflective pigmentIt is a pigment based on titanium dioxide that preferentially reflects infrared (heat) radiation from the Sun. When mixed with color pigments, the result is a higher solar reflectance range unprecedented polymers of colors, including shades of dark and vibrant.
Polymer products with high solar reflectance can remain cool under the intense heat of the Sun, which helps reduce heat buildup in general, avoiding distortions by heat and premature failure. The increase in the solar reflectance of polymers can help open new markets for the products of polymer to become less prone to deformation. This means that polymer products can be used in warmer regions of the world, where so far were inadequate.
Sean Reid, Development Manager, Huntsman said at the launch: "the increase in the choice of customers when it comes to building materials encourages innovation and polymer for exterior products are no exception. We believe that there exists a gap for a new generation of polymers that are colorful and that can better reflect the heat. Altiris pigment is designed to substantially increase the properties of solar reflectance of a wide range of polymers of colors and has the potential to provide energy efficiency and expand the choice of the customer. "The pigment offers a unique set of benefits: solar reflectance to measure from a unique additive and in almost any color the customer need".
